i'm extremely interested in this as well, though my knowledge is little of it.
my dad works with someone who's family was killed by Serbs during the '90s, but his wife survived and they moved to America. Recently when the US recognized Kosovo as independent from Serbia, i guess he was extremely happy.

Great topic and link. I've been also wanting to know more about the situation or what happened over there as well. The link helped with that, thanks. :)

"The Death of Yugoslavia" It's an interesting documentary. Seems at first to be blaming the Serbs but I would say it blames all parties involved. Not too much focus on US involvement(as a matter of fact I think it even stops chronologically before NATO involvement).
It's certainly not a socialist history, but it does give a breakdown of a lot of what happened and is a good political/geopolitical history.

Two books worth reading:
Fools Crusade - Diana Johnstone
Travesty The Trial of Slobodan Milosevic - John Laughland
Also a very good report on the Sebrenica massacre that goes deep into the cause of the break up. .... google Srebrenica Research Group....can't post link not enough posts but worth reading. Including a report from the No2 USA Army guy in Europe General CG Boyd.
Shameful that many so called Lefts jumped on the "poor little Kosovo Albanians" case, they didn't know of course that poor little Kosovars hired a high powered public relations company to project this image of them around the world.
Clinton said he was bombing Yugoslavia to stop tens of thousands from becoming refugees, as the bombs rained down that ten of thousands became hundreds of thousands fleeing for their lives from the bombs.

Yeah it's pretty good. I also watched it as I was taking a class that covered this period of Yugoslav history. The Doc leaves a few things out and doesn't explain the economics well enough (or really touch on them that much) which is of course pretty important. But it certainly does help give one a good understanding of the political development of that time.
