Hello comrades,
I am a 19 year old male living in Leeds, England. My dad was an political refugee from Chile and I have always been interested in revolutionary left wing politics. (if you don't know you're chilean history you ought to look up Salvador Allende and the US sponsored coup that happened in '73).

I used to have an account here on revleft a few years ago but its so long ago that its been lost and was in the cc and everything haha.

As for my political leanings, I'd class myself simply as a marxist.
Being half-chilean gives me a greater than average interest in latin american politics, watching Venezuela and Cuba closely in particular.
As many of us lefties do, I find Guevara and Castro as truly inspirational men.

It was all the way back in school when we studying the cold war when I originally woke up to the idea of the left. after school I studied sociology and politics at A-level but that was two years ago now so I definately need to do some more political reading to freshen myself up. I'd like to think I'm more mature now, back at college I was frustrated with the lack of revolution, expecting it just to show up but I realise now that its not that simply and that things take time. That said, I see no real hope for communism in England and I wouldn't be suprised if one day I ended up among the active revolutionary groups in south america.

I'd like to get active in politics here in england now but don't know anyone in my area that shares my politics, so get in touch if you're anywhere near Leeds.

Don't know what else to say really.

someone suggest me some reading material please :)

Welcome, have you read this (http://journals.sfu.ca/socialmedicine/index.php/socialmedicine/article/viewFile/4/86)?

I also got deeply interested in Allende in Chile and the Sandinistas in Nicaragua at one point. And later, Arbenz in Guatemala (http://www.amazon.com/Bitter-Fruit-Story-American-Guatemala/dp/0674075900).

Me too. Once I become fluent in Spanish I expect to spend some time in Venezuela. I may be going to Guatemala this November.

Hey mate! Welcome to the board.

I believe I have a few comrades, (not sure how many) in Leeds.

Are you a member of any organization?
