SADDAM'S SOLDIERS SURRENDER (http://www.sundaymirror.co.uk/news/news/page.cfm?objectid=12715943&method=full&siteid=106694)
Mar 9 2003
Mike Hamilton reports from Camp Coyote in Kuwait

"TERRIFIED Iraqi soldiers have crossed the Kuwait border and tried to surrender to British forces - because they thought the war had already started."

"The motley band of a dozen troops waved the white flag as British paratroopers tested their weapons during a routine exercise."

"The stunned Paras from 16 Air Assault Brigade were forced to tell the Iraqis they were not firing at them, and ordered them back to their home country telling them it was too early to surrender."

"The drama unfolded last Monday as the Para batallion tested mortars and artillery weapons to make sure they were working properly."

If they think the war has already started, then doesnt that tell you how unhonest mr Bush is being?> By attacking while saying he isnt? You cant just be one day like 'the war is here lets surrender' you have to be under attack.

No, they were probably starving, and thought that they could get a meal if they surrendered. This is a preview of things to come. Nobody is loyal to the current Iraqi regime. Iraq's army will not fight to defend him. As soon as things get started, their defenses will breakdown , and they will leave Saddam exposed to removal. I think regime change is welcomed by anyone in Iraq not benefiting from the current power structure. Those who hold the oppressive regime together, at this point, will run away out of fear for being tried as war criminals. Their generals, and intelligence officers will abandon their posts leaving Iraq in severe disarray. Finally, those who have been waiting for the liberation will capitalize on the power vacuum, leaving Iraq in a position to facilitate democracy. United States forces will ensure that a move in this direction is taken. If it appears that the successors are going to attempt to bipass the Iraq people, we will use forced coercion to make sure the government is handed over to the people of Iraq. As a result of our help, the Iraqi people will allow us to cut out those dirty Frenchmen, and give us oil at a discount.

What the hell are you talking about, this time? Since when is president Bush in charge of the Iraqi run media? Since when do reporters in America print what is in the best interest of our president? Sorry, but I think you are jumping to huge conclusions with no basis whatsoever. If the Iraqis were under attack, you would be sure to hear about it from the thousands of press agents in that region, both American and foreign. Trying to attribute the fear the Iraqi soldiers felt to the President of the United States is ridiculous.
