I know there are quite a few australian anarchist comrades and I have a question for you.
I was reading a libcom thread http://libcom.org/forums/oceania/do-you-support-aboriginal-nationalism and apparently it is quite trendy in leftist circles, including with anarchist circles, to support aborignal national self-determination. I wanted to ask the anarchists if they do support aborignal nationalism, and to state the reasons why.
I don't know enough about aborignal nationalism, but I do know a bit about indigenous self-determination movements in mexico. Regardless, I think that aborignal nationalism is probably reactionary as any other type of nationalism.

Anarchists support self-determination, not nationalism. There is a big difference there.
That's all the answer that is needed, whether we are talking about Australian Aboriginal peoples, South Ossetia, or any other people/place.

Actually, not all anarchists support "self-determination", and self-determination is nationalism. A lot of the times it is a form of "leftist" nationalism, but still nationalism is neverthless.
And not all anarchists support "self-determination" with esoteric arguments about historic "land claims" that only make sense to the bourgeois logic of private property, Believe it or not, some anarchists support the destruction of all borders and states.

As far as this self-identified anarchist goes, yes, I support "self-determination". By self-determination, I don't just mean a particular ethnic group gets to decide how to rule themselves, but every individual gets to decide how to rule themselves (as long as they are not harming others).
As far as control over actual land / territory goes, I would support everyone's right to access resources they need to make a living. If someone is already making a comfortable living, then he has less of a right to use a resource than someone who is in need and requires that resource to survive.
