LMAO!!! I can't believe he said this. That hypocrite!

----------------------------------------------
McCain appeared to make a new campaign gaffe Wednesday when he claimed he doesnt support the right of nations to invade other nations.

Sen. John McCain: I want to have a dialogue with the Russians. I want them to get out of Georgian territory as quickly as possible. And I am interested in good relations between the United States and Russia. But in the twenty-first century, nations dont invade other nations.

I like that it has become forbidden to insult the republicans here. We can only mock those that are less distant from our position, but still not close enough.

We can only mock those that are less distant from our position, but still not close enough.Try eight football fields away whereas the Republicans are nine. They aren't close enough because they aren't like us at all. The liberal capitalist view of womans rights is fundamentally different from the Communist/Anarchist view of womens rights, for example.

I don't mind insulting Republicans. Thing is, a lot of leftists haven't realized that the Democrats aren't to the left. When stuff degenerates into "LOL REPUBLICANS" then people get the view that the Democrats are fine. Yes, the Democrats are better on social issues, but that's it. Both parties are with the bourgeoisie, all third parties are either with the bourgeoisie or don't mind them. The only party that stands for the worker all the way (not "middle-class and working-class" crap like the Democrats, Greens, etc.) is the vanguard party, which doesn't participate in elections to win, but to help move things quickly to the left in order to help with government overthrow. (cf. Bolsheviks)

Due to the partisan attitude each party has, this can also lead to damaging views. E.g. "the south is dumb lol" or harping on about environmental rights when revolution will quickly move to fix any problems the environment is facing. (Albania for example had practically no pollution due to strict controls and bicycle riding was heavily encouraged)

Plus this belongs in Chit-Chat more than anything, since I don't see what serious political discussion can be made in this thread besides "lol McCain made yet another gaffe".

Or people could not afford cars...

I agree with Ismail on the rest though.

And I too think that it shouldn't be in politics

You guys just don't understand! The U.S. and U.K.-led war in Iraq was not an invasion. If you weren't so thick you would understand that Iraq posed a serious threat with its posession of weapons of mass destruction! If you people actually had any idea what you were talking about then you would understand this. Would McCain is doing is calling out Russia for what it is: an imperialist aggressor to the soveriegn democratic nation of Georgia. But the Iraq War was not an invasion; this is evident from how the Iraqis greeted the soldiers with open arms. And that's what we're doing: we're liberating the country.

dude...quit watching t.v. Iraq never had W.M.D.s the only reason we ever attacked Iraq after 9/11 was because we placed a small platoon of contract workers (Blackwater types) in Mecca and had them raid houses and kill civilians. They simply retaliated with an eye for an eye mentality. Too bad the majority of our cabinet 8 years ago was too fucking stupid to recognize foreign religions and diplomatic stances. When we were attacked by Al-Qeida it gave us a reason to go to war, which is exactly what Bush wanted. Well on Russia's defense they're been harvesting raw resources for the last 50 years and storing munitions and pumping military presence, it's about time they get out and do something. And as Americans we have the gall to stand up and pretend like we're going to be able to do something if they don't retreat....seriously we have literally 0 military at our disposal now. They're scraping the bottom of the barrel. And by liberating I think you mean eradicating, if we were liberating the number of civilian deaths wouldn't be at such a ridiculous number.

The sad thing is that this won't really hurt his campaign because most people probably won't see the blatant hypocrisy.

It's easy to laugh at these statements from the US ruling class, remember Bush and his "they attacked us because they are jealous of our freedom and prosperiety", or "why do they hate us, when we're so good"

Politicians can get away with this hogwash because the voting public believes it, they still think the US is a bastian of freedom and democracy and they are bringing it to the rest of the world, even if its by force. The general American and I would say westerner are either clueless about the brutality of western imperialism or live in denial. It's the same reason why genocidal Columbas day is still celebrated.

It is precisely this kind of hypocrisy and application of double standards that fuels resentment towards aspects of the United States. McCain's bellicose reaction towards the situation in an effort to seek a confrontation with Russia is utterly irresponsible.

Given that McCain is being advised by a diehard neoconservative by the name of Scheunemann, it is not surprising why McCain seems to be salivating for a war with Russia. Lobbying for Georgia, Scheunemann earned more than $800,000 in the process, yet is now advising McCain on the conflict.

What kind of leftist does not mock the Republican counter part? By the way this man is making Bush start to sound like the better idea. Truth is with him the Middle East is going to get even more Pissed and come back for a second 9/11 attack. Which is good for no one.

Thing is, a lot of leftists haven't realized that the Democrats aren't to the left.
I have had this discussion many, many times with people when they ask me about my politics.
It usually goes something like this:

They: So what are your politics?
Me: I'm a left-winger.
They: Oh, so you're a democrat?
Me: No, Democrats are not on the left side of the political spectrum. Whereas Republicans stretch all the way to the radical right (including fascism), Democrats overlap Republicans on the political spectrum. If anything, Democrats can be described as more moderate then Republicans, but not left.
They:

Democrats toward the left makes me laugh. I mean there as rightwing as the republicans. I think Republicans and these Democrats stand for almost the same thing. However they do things diffrently.

The guy is proving to be a walking disaster. The chilling fact of the matter is many of us Americans (generalized) still dig the fucker. It says more about us than him.

Perhaps, we're a walking disaster.

Get outta town, silly boy.
