A friend of mine and I are going into our senior years and want to make sure there is still a voice for communism in our small town school. We are thinking about handing out information on communism and the likes to the new freshman year as they check out the school and explaining the basics of Marxism.
We were wondering if anyone knew of a way to get a large number of copies of the Manifesto relatively cheap, anyone know any way we can do this?

Good luck
I tried something like that
Its better if you just talk to people about it
re-educate the people what communism is and take down the Stalin/kim jong il face of communism
best of luck Comrade

I don't think just handing out copies of the Communist Manifesto is the best way to get your fellow students thinking about communism and organizing.
You have to organize around issues that relate to them and demonstrate how their problems are connected to capitalism and its State. Things like standardized testing, police in your school, disciplinary structures like assigned seating, hall monitors and passes, lack of funding for your school and more funding for war, etc.
If you are in the US check out Students for a Democratic Society or another student-led group and try organizing your own chapter... or start your own group.

Good luck. The most important thing is to let people know you are there, and not appear crazy. The curious people will ask you more about it. Not losing your temper is paramount--imagine you are Howard Zinn or Chomsky, since they always manage to keep a cool even when faced with astounding ignorance.
You have a whole year. I really think the best strategy is to be personal likeable, and open about your beliefs. And acknowledge when you don't really know something. Being too aggressive will cause people to conclude that you hold your beliefs due to some personality characteristic rather than because of the facts and ideas that you've read. Being too evangelistic will cause people to just turn you off after a (short) while.

Socialism is not a religion, we don't need to convert people with our magazines.
You see something wrong in your school fight for it. Through Victory people gain their courage.

My school has a highly religious administration who bears their radical right wing views on their sleeve. The school wasted over 20 grand on a new security system. In the meantime our computers are half broken and a large percent of our books are from before the '90s.
Plenty of things to talk about, but I also want to speak on larger social issues, I am from a community with a very large population below the poverty line.

I agree and I would also recommend handing out anti-recruitment literature when military branches come to your school to talk about “easy money for college.” I think focusing on issues like these would be much more effective than handing out the CM to freshman.
I have also found that in high school it is much easier to get people to agree with you if you leave the word ‘Communism’ out or save it till later that way you won’t have to deal with the usual “ZOMG you want us to be like Cuba or North Korea or some shit!?” and it would be easier (as one member mentioned) to tear down the usual image of Communism = Dictatorships. But whatever works best for you comrade, good luck!

Perhaps organize some information sessions.
Advertise with posters and make fliers, and hold a small event/discussion group?
Disseminating Marxism in a High School isn't the easiest thing to do, but this could be a start. You never know, you may even be able to find a few people interested and create a Socialist Study Group.

Is it possible that they put the security system in place to stop people breaking the computers and stealing the books ?

if the computers and books are either half functional or antiquated who would want to steal them?

They put in the high security system because kids were smoking in the parking lot, and the school received a few backless, weak ass bomb threats that kids sent in to get school delayed and the scheduling fucked up.
We never had new books.
The computers have had parts stolen from them before, but over all, they are just shit. The monitors our school uses are the kind that you often see in dumpsters around universities and the likes after graduation. The keyboards are so old they randomly loose keys, and I think the monitors are just old.

You should rather try to start a brad leftist club at the school. I would suggest to rally your fellow students around school and local issues, and the struggle for those issues should help to raise their level of consciousness and therefore would make it easier for you to introduce them to communism.

This is what I wish I could have done. Unfortunately, my schools administration is a huge bureaucracy where you have to fill out like 80 forms, get a teacher sponsor, and bow before our great and merciful leader, the glorious Darcy I. (my principle knows who I am. And doesn't like me. I tried to start a mass fight with a skinhead Nazi's son in the commons) I doubt our principle would ever let leftists organize anyway.

But you do need to convince people to support it, otherwise it won't come. Especially in places like the US where people have so many misconceptions of it.
There's nothing wrong with trying to "convert" people (it sounds negative when you use a word like that but it's true that people need sometimes to be convinced to support it)

That sucks, that's why try to make your group seem broad, and perhaps you could ask a friend of yours to deal with the principal enstead of you.
but anyways you are trying to do waaaaaaaaaaay more than i ever did in highschool(well i actually didn't do anything) so good luck.

Today I am going to get the material ready. I am thinking about writing something disproving capitalist myths of radical leftism, and what we really stand for. Anyone care to give me a hand?

Or maybe just educate them on all the good things that Stalin did and explain where from and when the biases against him arose in their textbooks.

I don't think that starting with Stalin will win over much support. This poster should probably start with dispelling myths about Marx.

You could start with the basics like the labor theory of value, and how that explains that workers are exploitated.

nice try buddy, I am a Trot.
I simply made a list of a few myths about socialism (that it opposes democracy and the likes) and told the truth about them. I am having a bit of difficulty avoiding security and cameras putting the stuff up though.
I also have a list of places to receive more in depth information on communism, and a very very brief description of the philosophy.
