Opera strike - Security staff at the Sydney Opera House walked off the job yesterday in frustration at management practices in their department. The catalyst for the dispute was the dismissal of a Duty Security Manager. Long standing issues include bullying, staffing levels and an amalgamation of the fire and security departments. After a hearing at the NSW Industrial Relations Commission this morning the Opera House agreed to hold an investigation into security management practices and staff returned to work this morning. Conciliation for the unfair dismissal of the Manager will be held on August 13
