adj. 1. Lowered in class, rank, or social position.
2. Lacking high station or birth; of inferior social status.
So are you asking if lumpens can be lowered in class?

Do you mean declassed? If so I suppose so, they would have to be on 'permanent' welfare dependency though, or disabled. Pensioners are also declassed.

are they considered, by marxists, declassed proles, that can be considered alongside other declassed peple, or are they a type of proleLumpens are, to my knowledge, not considered to be with the three main classes. (Bourgeois, small bourgeois and proletariat) They have no relations to the means of production. They are, however, the result of a class society. In some cases they may be able to work with the proletariat (especially if they aren't drug dealers, gang leaders, etc. and operate solely on a survival basis) but in a majority of cases (especially if they're in crime) they are very hard to work with. That's probably why they're called lumpenproletariat, because like the proletariat their substandard position in life is due to said class society existing.
