Whether you are in favour of capital punishment in a post-capitalist society or not is unimportant to me.

What i want to know is should we as leftists be opposing capital punishment in our current capitalist society even if it means organising unpopular protests at the imminent executions of convicted rapists and murderers like say Ted Bundy?

Or should we be selective and only be protesting against the execution of people who we feel are being wronged even if you agree with the institution of capital punishment? (though obviously not in this example which is why you are protesting).

Well I have never been to an anti-capital punishment protest.
I certainly disagree with capital punishment for obvious reasons.

Also I think that objective conditions push somebodys conciousness in such a level that he would commit rape or murder so we should not kill him for that but rather try to kill the conditions which led him to do it by which I mean capitalism :)

Now I wouldn't go so far as to protest for a rapist not to be excecuted but I would certainly do that for a political prisoner or something of that nature

We should oppose capital punishment, no matter what kind of society it is in.

capital punishment cannot be rejected unconditionally.Generally murdering another individual using the authority is unacceptable. But also we should note there are certain exceptions.

Anyway going to find a valid answer to the problem under capitalist conditions is actually not very productive.I mean the problem of capital punishment is linked with humanity and humanity is something does not gets it's value under capitalism. You can't deal with "human" problems in an inhuman society
