I don't know what Dark Capitalist is trying to prove by his signature, but as a person of German origin, it is pissing me off more and more every time I see it. I would imagine that he's probably just trying to be cute by putting that quote up as a flag-waving bougoise "patriot", but I'm not really even going to bother addressing him...
I don't understand this, the message board said that people who promote racism will be banned immediately, or something like that. Think about it for a second, if DC replaced the word "German" with "Black" or "Jew", I'm sure he would have been banned already. Does this board not care about racism towards groups of the white race or not? Communists on this board need to prove that they are truely against racism, including racism against whites...
What Dark Capitalist is doing is glorifying the killing of my own ancestors... Clearly this constitues "racism"; I don't see why he hasen't been banned.

It's a quote from General Patton which I thought was particularly vulgar and eye catching, that's why I used it. Believe me, I possess absolutely no malice twards the German people. Why would I hate my own ancestors?
I guess if it really offends you that much, I will remove it.
And, I apologize.

Don't worry about it. I've heard that quote a lot of times and I've become rather desensitized to those kinds of things. I wasen't aware of your intention... I was just wondering why such a double-standard was permitted. I appreciate your receptiveness, though...
Besides, I know a thing or two about Ol' Blood & Guts myself. He hated Germans at first, but his opinions on them changed...
Just check out this quote by Patton towards the end of the war; it reflects his thoughtful metamorphasis... Don't you think?
"Evidently the virus started by Morgenthau and Baruch of a Semitic revenge against all Germans is still working. Harrison (a U.S. State Department official) and his associates indicate that they feel German civilians should be removed from houses for the purpose of housing Displaced Persons. There are two errors in this assumption. First, when we remove an individual German we punish an individual German, while the punishment is -- not intended for the individual but for the race, Furthermore, it is against my Anglo-Saxon conscience to remove a person from a house, which is a punishment, without due process of law. In the second place, Harrison and his ilk believe that the Displaced Person is a human being, which he is not, and this applies particularly to the Jews, who are lower than animals."
Not that I'm saying I neccessarily agree with Patton here... I sure wouldn't want to seem anti-semitic

Yes, his opinions about Germans did change for the better after the war.

I remember reading that, although I can't remember where.

Fucking hell, what a headtrip! My grandpa was in the Royal Engineers, getting his ass whooped in Malaya by the Imperial Japanese Army. He survived. :)

I seriously laugh at the claim that he died in a car "accident." He wanted the US to invade the USSR. He was a bit of a loud mouth in that respect, therefore, i doubt it was an accident.

One of my grandfather was a German artilleryman and the other was an Italian soldier, who claims he drove Rommel once, but was eventually caught by the British and was a PoW for a few years in Wales.

My grandfather was a navigator/bombradier in a B-17 during WWII. He was among the contingent responsible for the now infamous fire-bombing of Dresden. Not that this was the duty he would have chosen. He later told me that he became a bombradier because if anyone was going to drop a bomb down Hitler's throat, he wanted to be the one to do it.
