Tinnitus: Ringing in your ears

Who here is a sufferer?

I used to use headphones far too often and I play the drums which can't help either. It comes and goes but late at night while lying in bed, I hear the constant drone of my ears ringing.:crying:

How bad is your tinnitus? Does it bother you? What do you do about it?

I moved this to S/E since tinnitus is a medical problem, and you might get better suggestions here. My only suggestion is to wear earplugs when you play, if possible, and maybe try relaxation techniques such as 'progressive muscle relaxation' or breathing techniques before bed so that the problem doesn't disturb you as much.

i have tinnitus as well. its not severe normally, though occasionally its ridiculous. its all in my left ear as well. i play bass, and drums, and saxaphone, and listen to lots of metal with headphones, so i can't pinpoint a single cause:D i've heard they are working on an idea of what exactly it is and how to stop it. from what i understand its the same ringing sound you hear when you lose some hearing after an especially loud noise(drums, metal, explosions, machinery, etc.)

Mine was pretty bad, but I think wearing hearing protection when I should instead of ignoring it like I used to has actually helped curb it a bit. I work in a data center where hearing protection is a must if you want to have hearing later on. If you play the drums, wear earplugs. I wish I had earlier on because my hearing is definitely not what it used to be, but like most things medical it's not too late to start. Almost every single pro-drummer does...it won't make you a badass to go deaf. ;)

Yeah I have it, got it from a stiff little fingers gig by walking in on the support band just strumming and wacking their instruments. Hit me like a fucking wall. That said it's either very faint now or I've just got used to it or perhaps gone away? Despite the Doc saying it wouldn't. Lucky though becasue it used to drive me crazy.

Those who take medication should suspect that it may be a side effect.

Also, use drops of hydrogen peroxide to dissolve ear wax, but don't insert any objects.
