there's some good info on Malcolm X, including quotations like the aforementioned, in Ahmed Shawki's Black Liberation and Socialism. One of the greatest things about the black liberation movement is that so many turned to radical and anti-capitalist ideas (even MLK). The worst thing about the black liberation movement is all the lies (thanks to FBI's Cointelpro) and all of the convenient omissions (thank you Black History Month. Tell me again about slavery, "I have a dream", Booker T Washington, and the peanut butter guy.) It sucks how incomplete most people's knowledge of the black movement is, for a comment like this to be news to some of us. Hell, it was to me, but only because I spent a lot of the past year reading on minority struggles, especially those within the USA.

I can guarantee you'll never hear about that Malcolm X quotation in any high school class, even in February.

No he wasn't. He was a Muslim but towards the end of his life he became very anti-capitalist. I'd recommend reading a book put out by Pathfinder Press called "Malcolm X - the Final Speeches" which contains his speeches from the last year of his life. They're anti-capitalist, anti-imperialist and pro-socialist. They're not Islamist.
