Why do mothers win the majority of child custody cases in your opinion?

Is this discrimination against men? Certainly alot of fathers are increasingly taking drastic action because of what they see as blatant favouritism on the part of the courts.

Recently a guy kidnapped his two kids from there mother (who had won custody of the children after she divorced from the guy) and after taking them on a short holiday (to my county) he parked the car and then gassed them and himself dead.

Then there is the recent Clark Rockefeller case in America and the setting up of father's rights groups who do elaborate public protests to get their point across.

Why are mothers being favoured in the majority of child custody cases over fathers?

Are courts basing their decisions on the sexist belief that women are naturally more better then men at raising children?

This doesn't bare weight though as both would be single parents seeking employment so the kids would be in exactly the same situation with either parent unless one had a partner or childcare arrangements (though both could get either at anytime so why favour women in the majority of child custody cases?).

Is this discrimination against men?
Yes. For some reason men are not seen as caring for children as women.

Yes.

Both of these examples are manifested in the concept of "maternal instinct".

Why can't a man have as much of this as a woman (I will not use the term "paternal instinct", because I have never heard it used.) However, when somebody says "so and so would make a good father", it deals almost exclusively with playing with children, and not so much as cleaning up after them, feeding them, etc.

Likewise, a woman who is indifferent to children is seen as an exception to the rule. Again a concept presents itself; the "biological clock". When a woman doesn't show interest in children, it is assumed that sooner or later, their clock will begin "ticking", and they will then search out a family.

When a man is deemed as capable of caring for children as a woman, and women are seen as capable of providing fiscally for a family, and either gender is accepted when they voice or show indifference (or even disgust) as far as raising children is concerned, then feminists will have taken a huge step forward.

Of the few child custody cases that I've seen (I really don't look into this), the reason why the couples have ended up like this was because the father provided a bad influence for the child(ren), which is the reason why the couple has divorced.

Is this discrimination against men? Certaibly alot of fathers are increasingly taking drastic action because of what they see as blatant favouritism on the part of the courts.

This is discrimination against men in some cases. However, there are also the case where the man is clearly irresponsible towards their child's growth.

Well, in many cases, the women spend more time with the children, which gives them an advantage in terms of what will happen after the hearing.

i've noticed this as well, and indeed it is very sexist.

As mentioned, yes this is definitely discrimination against men.
There still exists the wholly ridiculous belief that children need their 'mother' if they're to be raised properly, and I'm sure we've all seen the plethora of Hollywood movies based around how hilariously horrible men are at parenting.

But, I've got to say ...

Recently a guy kidnapped his two kids from there mother (who had won custody of the children after she divorced from the guy) and after taking them on a short holiday (to my county) he parked the car and then gassed them and himself dead.
Sounds like the mother winning custody, in this case, was perfectly reasonable! :(
