I must apologize to my cappie friends for I
have changed sides. In my town there are
people to stand on a certain corner to wave
signs in protest of the possible war with
Iraq. One of the sign wavers a wrote a
piece in our paper that makes me feel so
ashamed that I have solidified my opinion
against a US war with Iraq. If I were the
President of the United States I would send
the following letter to the leader of Iraq,
Saddam Hussein.

Dear Saddam Hussein,

I am writing to inform you of the change of
heart I have had with respect to our two
nations. During Desert Storm, we defeated
your army and brought your representatives
to the negotiating table. At the negotiating
table, you agreed to a set of actions you would
take. I have labored in vain to get the UN,
American allies and the American people behind
my effort to hold you to our agreement. As
a result, the US has become, in the world's
eyes, a rogue nation. I have failed and you
have won. The US won the battles but you
have won the war by waiting until you had
world opinion on your side. Your victory
requires a changes in US policy with respect
to Iraq.

The USAF and the RAF will no longer maintain
"no fly" zones in northern and southern Iraq.
Iraqi gunships may range freely over all Iraq,
in particular the Kurdish areas.

The soldiers of the US Army will withdraw from
all Persian Gulf states including the Iraqi
province formerly known as Kuwait. The US Army
will leave behind it's equipment including the
tanks. Germany, France and the other Continental
European nations trust Iraq more than the US so
leaving the armor in Iraqi custody should relieve
them. Please accept the armor in replacement for
the armor destroyed by the allied forces during
Desert Storm.

The people of the United States cannot replace
the Iraqi soldiers killed during Desert Storm.
Please accept our apologies. If you need vengence,
you may consider destroying a skyscraper in one
of our great cities. As the American left will
tell you, with all the resources the US uses,
the pollution produced and with all the treaties
the US throws off such as ABM and Kyoto, the US
is the cause of all evil in the world. Go ahead
and knock down a skyscraper, we have it coming.

Please accept our apology for any inconvenience
we have caused in your bid for hegemony over the
Persian Gulf oil states.

Your friend

The President of the Rogue State of America

tap....tap tap....hello? Is this thing on?

I wrote that letter to help relieve the anger I felt after reading the abject nonsense written in my home town newspaper. I wanted to see what you all thought before I sent it in as a letter to the editor in the newspaper.

I didn't expect to hear nothing but crickets.

Silence. Now I don't know what to think. Your reaction lies somewhere between too bored to respond and your worst nerve has just been stomped on. At any rate, I don't think I'll send it in to the editor of my local rag.

Thank you...thank you...I'll be here all week.

Not bad, but not sure George W. Bush can write so coherently.

I have read some of your posts Hank, and I thought you to be an intelligent person. I never thought you'd revert to sarcasm.

I refuse to argue with you, with your argument as it is. Could you please put that into a structured argument and I'd be happy to argue with you. It you want to that is.

Um...ok? Can someone clarify what that meant? I can take it both ways, pro and anti war.

It's satire people, c'mon. He obviously meant it to be pro-war, and it's not that bad mind you.

C'mon guys, its extremely sardonic.

"Please accept our apologies. If you need vengence,
you may consider destroying a skyscraper in one
of our great cities."

Does that sound like a sincere offer?
