What will bars (or perhaps just alcohol in general) be like after the revolution? Assuming we can't tip, what will happen to the bells? What/who determines how much alcohol I consume (aside from physical limitations)? Is it like we are all in a big fraternity and every day is a party? Is it a "Southern" fraternity? Do we get to haze pledges? Is it one of those co-ed honor fraternities where noone really knows each other and nothing fun happens?

Lots of "What will X be like after the revolution?" questions lately. Is this truly a pressing question in your mind? Is this what makes or breaks the idea of communism for you?

many people in IO got pretty legitimate question, perhaps often those question are simplistic, but asking ourself what x gonna be after the resdolution is a healthy exercise of what possible and what not.

for alchool, well, i think bar will still exist, since alchool is a pleasure like another, and man need pleasure.

How could you tip when there is no money?
What bells?
You choose how much to drink your self unless you cause trouble when you get drunk, the same with other drugs.
What's the rest of it got to do with getting drunk?

Why have a Revolution is you don't have a clear picture of what you will get when you have it, and what life will be like when it's over.

Otherwise, why bother?

Limits of personal alcohol consumation will be set by the same (part of your) body as now: your stomach.

No money, no tips.

Everyday a party? You do realize that we dont plan to do away with working, so you will have to find time to work if you want to get wasted.

What fraternities? What plegdes? You drink. You get wasted. Exactly the same as now.

I think that what he means is that people get into way too much detail, and I agree. "Will I be allowed to drink beer after the revolution" "will I be allowed to have pubic hair after the revolution"... ect.

What, you're against self responcibility?

We don't know excactly what communism will be like - how can we? The revolution will be an ongoing process. The socialist stage could take years. It will look like what we make it look like.

all he is asking is how much alcohol would be alloted to each person. Would there be limitless amounts? Would it be talored to your size? Rations or somit?

I know in the soviet union they drunk much liquor,
so much so in the 80s the cpsu banned it
not even party members drunk [in public]

So i think as long as our 'communist society' dident abuse it
we would have it.

Killfacer got to the fundamental aspect of my question, which is...

How much will I be able to drink? Currently now, prices and my level of income mean that occasionally (mainly just in bars) I am limited not only by my stomach and mind but also by my wallet. How will alcohol be distributed? If it is to each according to his need, does that mean people with higher tollerances need more? Or would they get less because they are considered addicts/drunks/slothly?

Also, since we won't have prices, what will stop me from wanting to make the champagne flow like a rap star? Or on a smaller scale, fine German and Irish beer instead of cheap, American fratwater?

I would think that all significant drugs would be freely distributed so as that capitalist enterprises could in no way compete with communist production - which would be free, how could you possibly compete with free?

Thus there would be no need for wage labour for workers to buy drugs because they are available free.

Comrade Identity Crisis, why so serious? Do I seem like a fighter? Can't you just brainwash, I mean reeducate me and have me work on one of your community soy farms?

Seriously though, how can alcohol distribution be done in an effective way? Can we expect to have a REAL communist party without some vodka and a little 80s pop?

You can drink plenty as long the production can outproduce you, you still think we gonna stay in fixed production. Our production will aim to not to make waste (it is inevitable but can be done minimum) and if you want a special beer, make em your own. We are individualism but every mind is collectivism such the language English and knowing your people, even reading Ayn Rand's book.

Leave it to the workers self-management.

You know people do and can fully enjoy themselves without recrational drugs.
