Iran-Cuba relations is an example of solidarity between two justice-seeking and freedom-loving nations. Both nations are to be praised for resisting U.S. aggression.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of Iran sent friendly greetings to his Cuban counterpart, Raúl Castro, and the leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, whom he thanked for their solidarity with his country.
In receiving Foreign Minister Felipe Pérez Roque, Ahmadinejad praised the Cuban Revolution’s firmness in standing up to U.S. aggression, as well as its work in the presidency of the NAM.
The Iranian president reiterated his country’s willingness to develop relations with Cuba in diverse sectors, Pérez Roque told Prensa Latina.
The Cuban foreign minister also met with Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, with whom he exchanged viewpoints on bilateral relations, the current world situation and the increasingly significant role of the NAM in international affairs.
In bilateral meetings held in parallel with the ministerial conference, Pérez Roque spoke with a number of other foreign ministers about matters under the responsibility of the NAM’s 118 nations.
During his talks with Fodel Tijani, minister of state for foreign affairs of Sudan, he addressed issues relating to the crisis in Darfur and events stemming from that conflict.
Pérez Roque also met with the foreign ministers of India, Pranab Mukherjee; of Cyprus, Markos Kyprianou; Belarus, Serguei Martinov; the People’s Democratic Republic of Korea, Pak Ui Chun; and Algeria, Mourad Medelci.
