i have a question. why did war become so unpopular? war has been perfecty justifiable throughout all time really until about , eh, 40 years ago and a place called vietnam.

this is my theory. nowadays people dont believe in god so death is the end of everything. no wonder they hold onto their lives so dearly. no wonder when anyone dies its such a tragedy. why aren't the suicide bombers afraid of death, they believe in god and a existence after life.

of course this begs the question isn't god responcible for war then? when was the last time a aethiest country went to war? well actually i bet there are a few in asia but im too lazy to find out.

well, this would only be true in democratic countries anyway cause any country ruled by a despot wouldnt care i guess if the despot didn't.

being in fear of death your whole life though doesnt sound like my idea of living. what a depressing outlook on life to be a godless commie.

and dont get me wrong, commies have no moral authority when it comes to killing ppl. they tagged, what, 100 million in the 20th century. still, those were more like murders rather then going to war cause they were their own citizens.

enough rambling
i rock

Well i'll reply to whai think your were asking...

Why is it unpopular?
Well it causes human suffering to both sides
It destablises vast areas
Its VERY expensive
and, there are more productive ways of sorting out differences.

Bloody hell.

How about: You're trying so hard to simplify everything that you sound vaguely condescending.

Really, it's not that suicide bombers aren't afraid of death, it's that they believe in the worthiness of their cause to the extent that everything else assumes a less meaningful status...their faith transcends life itself. Oh come on, stop badgering the Palestinians...

Kamikaze pilots screaming into battleships, Sikh warriors impaling themselves on British sabres, Sioux braves running into ambush...mention "suicide bomber" today, and 9/10 people will think "Islamic Terrorists".

Mention war, and it's "Iraq, Iraq, Iraq". Shit, I'm sick of this already...

Lets see, the Soviet Union and China are officially atheist and they went to war numerous times. Religious ferver causes war and makes people more willing to die yes, but it also is because of the physical toughness of the ancients. They had far more endurance then anyone alive now ever could.
