Are there any big budget theatrical films (in English) that depict the Russian revolution ? Life of Lenin ? etc
I have also always wondered if there are any films in English featuring the life of Karl Marx ?

One of my favorite movies is about just that. It's called Reds, and stars Warren Beatty (who directed the movie, and put up the money for it as well) and Diane Keaton. Beatty plays John Reed, and American radical journalist who ended up in Petrograd during October and went on to write the most famous account of the Revolution, Ten Days that Shook the World. Other famous revolutionaries like Emma Goldman, Max Eastman, Lenin, Trotsky, and Zinoviev have prominent roles in the movie (although the latter is given a rather unsympathetic portrayal). Also, Jack Nicholson turns in a fantastic performance as the cynical playwright Eugene O'Neill. Furthermore, Beatty should be given the right to kill whoever he wants for making, and funding with his own money, a great, award-winning film that dealt sympathetically with communist ideas during the heyday of the Reagan Reaction.
Otherwise, most of the movies dealing with the revolution were made in the Soviet Union. Sergei Eisenstein's Oktober is a fantastic early (and unfortunately silent) movie that deals with the revolution, although it was made in 1927 and unfortunately includes a small dose of Stalinist propaganda.
Dunno about movies on the lives of Marx or Lenin- I imagine films about them were made in the Soviet Union or the glacis countries, but I can't think of any in particular at the moment.

I'm seriously going to check that out. I think I heard the name but passed it off as being a pro-capitalist all out bash on communism.
