If me and my Dad run a gardenning service where we both work for people doing gardenning work (independently of any buisness, just me and him) and we both get paid the same amount, and work with our own tools for the price and the employer agree on, are we in any way contradicting our socialist/communist beliefs? Are we capitalists/bourgeoisie if we do this?

No, but why would you care if you are an employer(capitalist) or own your own shop and employing nobody (being petty bourgeois )?
Engels was a big capitalist and he had communist beliefs . We are not lifestylists. We dont want to try and live as proletarians so we can be communists. A guy who works in a factory and is a communist is not a better revolutionary than someone who is a communist(real conciouss communist) but at the same time an employer . For example I am not a better revolutionary than Engels.
We live in a capitalist world and we need to get by. If that means owning a business so be it. We are not the ones who will bring the revolution it is the proletariat. We are just the cadres (or at least trying to be).
Personaly if I had the opportunity to have a big factory and employ thousants I would not waste it. Of course a big chunk of my profits would go for the struggle for socialism .
