The RNC is coming to my home of Saint Paul, MN. I think the thing is going to be a mess, riddled with agents provocateurs. The cops are sure to crack down, given that they are having so damn many of them come here (thousands of them, I think.). I will have to be very careful if I show up to the event (not sure how things are with my work schedule yet.). If I go, I will definitely steer clear of black blocs and other such groups that come with the intention of looking for trouble (nevermind the fact that the "propaganda of the deed" has been rigorously refuted by history!). Either those types or a police agent will start some crap that will initiate the crackdown, most likely.

I will probably have to come prepared with some things (I think a bandana soaked in lemon juice counter-acts teargas...I will have to double check with a comrade) to help me endure and hopefully escape police persecution.

I just hope that other comrades in my organization and others that are going for sure don't run into too many problems.

I have thought about going. Its too expensive for me to get out there. Anything over benny is too much and I simply cannot afford it. I agree that its going to be a mess. From what I understand its a fairly small area that all of this mayhem is going to be taking place in. It might be too tight and the shear number of people attending will shut the thing down.
I hope the various blocs~ that attend won't do anything stupid as this is no WTO demo. I'd imagine the police can get away with more because of the politics involved; literally.

it's also true that people can make more of a point, because of the politics involved, because this will get more media attention than some wto meeting. the new sds is hoping for a rerun of the 1968 dem convention on this 4oth anniversary, perhaps it will revitalize the left.
