saw it last semester. yup, good.
'the english soldiers will march 10 miles in a day and rest, these zulu will run 50 and fight a battle at the end'
or something like that, was my favorite line.

Sort of like Black Hawk Down, without the RPG's, gunships and back-slapping Ranger camaraderie.
Isn't Michael Caine in it? Great Cockney Bastard.

Pretty good. But I think science has disproven (is that a word?) that that many Zulus died attacking the 'Fort.' No really, it's true, I saw it on T.V.
Alright, I'll look for sources.

I think it was somewhere over a thousand Zulu that died at the battle of Rorke's Drift.

Is this a documentation on the Zulu wars? That one battle where i do believe 20,000 Zulus massacred a british army of 13,000. only 60(give or take a few) made it out alive. It was fought in 187.....8 i think. never saw the movie, but if it has to do with the above information, i will look into it.

No, this was specifically about the battle of Rorke's Drift. The other battle I think your referring to is the battle of Isandlwana.

Zulu's were insane, imagine if the English had sold them guns twenty years before, and they had time to recalibrate, their fighting tactics..... Whooo... It'd be worse then the Fulani wars.

Has anyone seen Shaka Zulu or even read about him? He was an interesting and perplexing figure who was important in trying to sever imperialistic ties from South Africa (or Suid Afika, if you are an Afrikaans scum). Often called the Black Napolean, who pioneered several military techiniques and was an interesting person on the whole

Yeah, too bad he was a brutal maniac who wanted his soldiers to stay away from women, thus making sure that the Zulu population could not increase significantly.
His technological and tactical advances to the Zulu army would have been great if it was 200 BC-200 AD.
But it was the 1820s.
He was by no means a "good guy."

I've seen it. They once showed the entire mini-series one sunday on the history channel. Must have been some eight hours.

Shaka was a good person as far as a general, he did what he could to unify the South African tribes (basically, he conquered and integrated them) into a large unit that could successfully defend itself. Why do you think the Dutch, Brits, and other Imperialistic asshole-states had such a difficult time, besides the terrain and climate?
