No one should rejoice at the accidents where 7 Astronauts perished. The U. S. has the most advanced space program in the world; they send more people into space than anybody else. Even so, accidents will happen, and regretably, continue to happen because science isn't perfect and exploring space is a dangerous occupation. The Russians themselves have had their share of accidents, and the Chinese will soon because this is the nature of the game. It would be better if no one got killed, but that's just not the way things are.
Before the Iron Curtain came down, the Soviets used to keep their failures secret, but now, Russia is more open about all the mishaps they've had during the 60s, 70s, and 80s. The Chinese are new to this game so they haven't experienced a "disaster" yet. The EU does not send men into space yet like the U. S. and Russia.
My prayers go to the astronauts of Columbia and their families and to all space explorers from all nations that venture into the new frontier. All astronauts and cosmonauts are heroes because these people known that there are certain risks involve in going outside the earth atmosphere; they know that everytime they live the launch pad, the return ticket is not garanteed.
