well for starters you could talk about how entire portions of the world had their living standards increased because of it. this would include the Soviet Union, China, Cuba, Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia.

after that, you should talk about the contributions to economic/political theory that was made by Marx, Engels, Lenin, Trotsky, Mao, etc.

id say that would get you started. also you might want to check out MIA (http://www.marxists.org/). its basically about all things Marxism.

If your research paper is on its effects on the 20th century then you would probably first briefly outline what the Manifesto contained in terms of ideas presented, its importance to Marxist theory, and how the very beginning it inspired revolutionary activity. Next, you would give detail on the Marxist revolutionary activity in the early 20th century by the Bolsheviks in the October Revolution, the rise of "Stalinism", the Chinese Revolution and how it was influenced by Marxist-Leninism. And of course to keep it relevant to the topic at hand you would continually refer back to the Manifesto in how it was relevant in the actions of the revolutionaries and the Communist Parties. And that's just scratching the surface.

This seems apt. Most certainly begin with an outline, and follow with a historical account of revolutionary activities in the 20th century. Then attempt to synthesize the two, pointing out how, and what, these revolutionaries activities drew from the Manifesto, and how it shaped leftist thought.

I would recommend this edition of the Communist Manifesto (http://www.amazon.com/Communist-Manifesto-Historys-Important-Political/dp/1931859256/ref=pd_bbs_sr_7?ie=UTFhttp://www.amazon.com/Communist-Manifesto-Historys-Important-Political/dp/1931859256/ref=pd_bbs_sr_7?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1216673183&sr=8-7[/URL]) that is up to date and well annotated for your needs. I found it at the library.
