"I hated the gooks. I will hate them as long as I live."
-John McCain

I hear mainstream news stations complaining about Obama being racist towards whites  but how come we never hear about John McCain? He refers to asians at gooks and is a well known adulterer (American people care about this- except when it's McCain?) and misogynist (called his wife a "****").

I do not support any presidential candidate, but I am wondering:

Why the double standard and what can we do about it? Most people who aren't well read on political blogs may not know he even did/said some of those things. If Obama called someone "white devil", "cracker", or "spic", he would be pressured out of the race. Why not McCain? If Obama called his wife a ****, he would be pressured out.

Just a bit of a rant  I have a feeling it's a race thing in the News... Someone restore my faith in the general population.

The Asians don't take up much of the voting public, so maybe McCain is testing the waters and being an ass :D

But on a serious tone, I feel that starting from about February right up to this day, the media has been concentrated on Obama. When he took the Iowa caucus, people were starting to think that he was going to stay here for good, and the media immediately turned from Hillary Clinton to Obama (just my opinion). With the Jeremiah Wright fiasco, media coverage of Obama became more concentrated then ever.

Obama has been in the spotlight for all this time, while McCain was quitely doing his business, campaigning in the background. It's the uneven coverage of the thing, coupled with a double standard, that makes it seem out of perspective. If there was more media attention on McCain, they'll undoubtedly find something juicy to put on the tabloids.
