well, its my first post, i will talk about my idea about politics, there wasnt any general section where i could say hello (well i didnt see anything!) so i will do that here, and at the same time explain some of my stuff.

my name is Dan, aka spetz21 i am a canadian from quebec, and i am a partisan ofsocialist and communism.

i am also an old friend of a guy from netherland that was on this forum not so long ago, his name is piett(hello mate!).

i got big difficulties of define what type of communist i am, if i am one.
i am starting to read stoff about lenin, marx, trotsky etc.

so far, i am a huuge fan of lenin, i think he got a lot of thing right, and i fully support the teory of permanent revolution of trotsky, i think that this is the best way for a communism to stay fresh and not getting stuck in the old principle of the old guard. i think that communism should be global and not be bound by a state, like trotsky and lenin said.

Personally, i dont believe in many action my comrade take (protest, antiwar protest, no offense..) mainly beccause i think that for the moment, our job is to change the way the other see us, we shoud be with the people, we should oranize ourselves to help poor people, helping them to find job, food and shelter in order to have them has our supporter, we have to innovate our way to be seen and we should try to change the way the people see us. its only when we will have gained a certain support of the population that we will be able to change things.

then again, please dont kill me, i know a lot of you guy will hate my idea, most of poeple here in canada thaT are hardcore capitalist think i am a fool, so..
well, i am planning to read more book about communism and socialist in the futur, so my perception of the things might change.

-what do you think me?
-what kind of communism i am? leninist, trotskist, socialist?
-do you know my buddy piett?
-do i deserve to die?

Comrade, this is basic internationalism, and every self-defined brand of Marxism professes this. And also, we should not stick to old principles of 'permanent revolution' or 'stageism', what we need to do, in light of our new and dynamic conditions, is reanalyze those theories can come up with some new that more fully corresponds to reality. "Concrete analysis of concrete conditions" - Mao Tse-tung.

As Mao said, and I think that this is basic marxism, is that the people learn best in struggle, they learn best by example. We will not win over the masses by just preaching to them without any actual political struggle against the system. This struggle does need to be coupled with a systematic exposure of capitalism.

I agree, we should try to change the way that people see us. But it is opportunist to attempt to win over the people through immediate reforms and then think they will gravitate towards the revolution when the time comes. This is wrong, and idealist; it does not occur in real struggle. So, the people need to be won over on a revolutionary stance in the course of large political struggles, such struggles that can show the nature of the system. Struggles of immediate oppression, like housing and employment, are important and need to be supported and strengthen, but major political battles definitely carry more weight. There will come a time when we should worry and shoulder the basic needs of the masses, but this needs to be guarded from moving into a reformist path.

I think you are learning; we all are, and should always do so.

I don't know if you are a trotskyist, or a leninist, or an anarchist. What you need to do is continue reading everything you can get a hold of (Mao, trotsky, Marx, Engels, Lenin, Fanon, Black Panthers, etc). Always be critical of what people tell you and do your own investigations to find if what people say is true or not. On RevLeft, you might be intimidated by those that have been here longer and have more of a grasp on theory than you, but remember to always be critical.

I have seen piett around, but not as of late.

You do not deserve to die, that is reserved for the hard core reactionaries and mass murderers.

Well you sound like a Trotskyst to me, so welcome aboard!:D

But yea, most of your ideas seem basic Marxist ideas. And yea changing the way the people see us is an important step, but meanwhile we must also help the workers in the daily struggles that they have no matter how small they seem. I mean we can't just wait until every single worker in the world likes communism and then start working.

And yes you deserve to die, but since I love you so much, you must accept me as your personal savior, and serve me so I don't kill you. j/k

If you have more questions about Trotskyism:trotski: pm me.
