Its a great day for America.

Its time for the rhetoric and frivolous bantering to stop, and to start kicking the tires and lighting the fires.

The end is near for Saddam Hussein and his rule in Iraq, as well as his stockpiles of WMD's and related programs.

It is good to know that when it comes to true world leadership, and making the world a safer place, America is at the forefront.

As we are with most things.

Long Live America

Long Live Capitalism

Down with Saddam Hussein

Can I sign one of the bombs?

I agree.

"Saddam is no 'supplementary enemy'. Iraq will always be on the side of our adversaries. In spite of treaties of friendship, Iraq has always had the secret intention of exploiting every opportunity to do us harm."

The UN Weapons Inspectors didn't find anything.

I mean, what more can be said?

You can't pin anything on Iraq to justify this war aside from speculations, and your initial speculations have already been proven false!

Just a thought...

Bush is still going to go along with the war, either way. What was the purpose of sending in the inspectors? Just for the drama of it all? If they don't find anything, they accuse the Iraqis of having really good hiding places. 12,000 pages Iraq submits to the UN about their weapons programs, and our lovely bureaucrats still accuse the Iraqis of keeping things from them.

I'm not just saying this as a communist or as a leftist. The whole world is against this stupid war, minus Israel, for obvious reasons, and...well, Tony Blair, for being the whore that he is, yet Bush still wants to go through with it. This is keeping the peace? Has anyone in the White House even contemplated the idea that this is going to only piss more people off at the U.S., thus putting the lives of the American people in danger?

This is America, the country that boasts about it's diplomacy in such a manner that makes you almost believe such diplomacy exists.

What can be said, MDP, is that you are totally wrong.

The weapons inspectors:

#1 Are far from finished with the inspections. In fact, they have just started.

#2: The specifics of the teams' findings have not been made public. What has been made public is that the inspection teams have already recorded several components and much equipment related to iraqi weapons programs missing and unaccounted for. There have also been leaks that Saddams own cabinet and advisors have been ordered to house military equipment ant their own homes.

Where are they? Why have they been moved?
MDP, if anything, the weapons teams have initial indications that Saddam Hussein is trying to do exactly what the US has assserted he would, develop a WMD program and try to conceal it.

An the US is going to stop him.

If it wasn't for America Holland would have been either:

1) a nazi state or...

2) a soviet state

Either way, you would have been oppressed under a dictatorial regime, and you know it.

However, America Guaranteed that this did not happen, and you remain a free country.

Show a little appreciation for the nation that both liberated you and protected you for 50 years!!!

I'm thankful for the things USA has done for my country and it's freedom, and all other countries freedom as well. The problem is that it seems that USA's been ruining more countries than it's rescued.

CI what exactly does Americas past missions in Holland have to do with the nuclear missiles being stored there. In a post cold war world what purpose exactly are the missiles serving? Too bad the big bad soviet threat is a bit outdated. The global U.S military presence is unjustified and is further to the claims of the left that the U.S is a world empire enforcing its dominance at the point of the bayonet. You CI have stated proudly several times that the U.S is a global empire...

Yeah CI, if you wanna talk about past accomplishments, should Ghana rightfully hate the United States for having stolen numerous people from it in the past, and starting wars in the area that was to become their nation? No! It was an old regime!

Should we stand with the French on everything because they helped us become an independent country? No!

You can't base all information on the past. America is great, but it's great because it's standing on top of every other country, as the eye of the pyramid.

And after Saddam?

The US "rescues" democracy yet again by installing another puppet government headlined by cronies groomed to lead the American Way?

Out with the old, in with the new.

And what guarantee does the world have that the new puppet government will act in the interests of its people, and not of it's paymaster?

Is Iraq going to end up like Afghanistan, partitioned and sub-divided like so many prime cuts on a cow?

Will Iraq ever be a sovereign nation after that?

Sure, we all hear stories of Saddam murdering and starving his loyal subjects, but what guarantee do we have, fuck it, what guarantee do the people of Iraq have that the New won't be as bad as theOld?

Sure it's time to take action... against the U$ and it's imperialistic war plans. weopans of mass destruction are just an excuse for the U$ to execute internal political goals.

All leftists should be participating in some kind of protest, or organizing one. At my school we are posting flyers around the school talking about how the U$ embargo has hurt the Iraqi people, and we don't need to hurt them more.

It is Saddam Hussein that is hurting the iraqi people. The US embargo allows for provisions for the people of Iraq for food and medical supplies. Saddam is ursurping those provisions for hisa own uses.

It is his fault his people are suffering.

Do you fellow students know that?

Umoja
14th January 2003, 00:23
Sure it makes the Iraqi people suffer, but who does a trade embargo punish? People need to trade with Iraq for oil, and Saddam is in control of that. That's what the United States is fighting for, this will bring un-due suffering to the Iraqi people though as many thousands more will die in a war against their country, to defend US interest in an area that is only important because of its oil.

Capitalist Imperial
14th January 2003, 00:53
Myth: Current US action in Iraq is really about oil.

Truth: The USA gets very, very little oil (if any) from Iraq.

saddam hussein is a killer, and needs to be stopped. lets focus on his WMD's and the kurds he gassed.

this is not about oil, it is about regime change.

and again, the trade embargo does not hurt thre iraqi people, it only punishes his regime. saddam hussein circumvents the trade embargo concessions designed to help the iraqi people. he is at fault, and no one else

With the massive military build up in Iraq Dubya has shown his dedication to war regardless of what the inspectors find and/or what the council decides. He has said numerous times regardless of what the security council thinks hes gnna have himself a good ole war. Theres just one problem for all you patriots, yes you capitalists!, who beleive in the constitution. Article six of the constitution states that any treaty etc. ratified by congress with another state or group is law in the U.S. As a signer of the U.N charter the U.S has agreed to refrain from military action unless its territory is under attack or the security council approves the military action. If Dubya decides to go to war with out the approval of the security council he is betraying the constitution and should be summarily executed preferably in the flames from the fires he was using to torch the U.N charter and the constitution....
