From the 1989 Pretty Hate Machine to the 2008 The Slip and the six between, which is your favourite NIN album?

It would be good if you could say why it's your favourite too.

So hard to pick. I hold Pretty Hate Machine, The Downward Spiral, The Fragile and now Ghosts all in such high regard. It should be one big tie. Alas, since I'm forced to pick, I went with The Downward Spiral.

The Downward Spiral, no doubt about it. Another very good album is 'And all that could have been'

And why The Downward Spiral? Cause of its background story, it tells about a man on his path to self destruction, also and foremost, the real powerfull songs like 'heresy' 'march of the pigs' and , of course, 'hurt'

such a tough decision, Year Zero was the only one that i knew wasn't gonna get my vote, just down to not listening to it much

went with Pretty Hate Machine in the end though, twas the album that originally got me into elctronic music

Pretty Hate Machine was such a great album. Terrible Lie, Something I Can Never Have ... the list goes on and on.

This is like asking a mother to choose what child she loves the most!

I had to go with Pretty Hate Machine, I love them all though, even the new stuff.

In fact I'm gonna go see them perform next month in Los Angeles! can't wait!

I have to reconsider and say that the Broken album is the best, it has the most metal influences and all songs kick ass

Broken, Closer to God EP and Sin were Trent's best work in my opinion. And this is from a long time fan - as a kid, I collected all of his CDs up until The hand that Feeds era.

That was an EP, and one of my favorites as well. I liked it more than The Fragile, which is its album counterpart.

We shouldn't forget Fixed, pretty unpopular but really good remixes of Broken.

The Downward Spiral because its what I have heard of them which has moved me the most and basically stuck to my mind. Interesting usage of panning and fading in the mixing, coupled with industrial sounds, generally I'd say it's a very innovative album.

I don't want to be that person, but Things Falling Apart is more of an outtake/remix album to the Fragile(like further down the spiral was to tDWS)
But I loved that album. Where is Everybody is such an awesome song.

But I chose Fragile, just because it had all of my favorite elements from DWS with some progression and new ideas

True.

I'd agree here too. Though it might not have the "passion" of The Downward Spiral the music is just good rock music mixed in with Trent's industrial genius.

After some recent listening I've decided The Fragile is my favourite, in fact it's probably one of my favourite albums ever. I just like how it ties together, you know? Good balance, and smart. There's no part of it that to me feels really weak, which is rare, and there's a lot I really like.

I would have said TDS fits together more than The Fragile. The Fragile was always more of a collection of songs to me where as TDS was like a single song.
