hey, i'm looking for information on unusual cultures throughout the world, sort of just from interest, also to see if there is really anything to the whole cultural relativism thing (how elastic is human nature? a question of interest to leftists). I'm aware of how easterners are often considered to think more holisticly and collectively than westerners, also aware of the piraha (look them up on wikipedia) and yanomamo (very violent) tribes, and of margaret mead's (disputed) study on the chambri, mundugumor, and arapesh (challenging gender roles as normally percieved). But i need MORE. any ideas anyone? it strikes me how similar most cultures are across the world, in terms of gender roles, warfare, ethics, etc., so i'm looking for extreme examples of behavior.

i'm definitly not interested in starting some sort of argument with anyone over any aspect of this question. i'm only seeking info.
perhaps this belongs in chitchat...
