I saw it, and I was bored to tears through most of it.

I agree, but David Gilmour's playing rescues it -- just!

the album is far more philosophical than political. I love it as an art piece, don't get me wrong. But if you want to hear his pacifist/commie views (through a nihlistic lens) you'll have to listen to animals or the final cut or the tracks he released in 2003. Good beats on some of the songs, but unfortunately too long of an album and a lot of filler (poetry with crude background music).
But the movie does an awesome job of making it come alive, though the casting could have been a lot better.

it's an awful bunch of trite.
only popular within the classic rock/stoner culture.

It's a jumble of perceptions and metaphors (sometimes rather over-done and tacky), supposedly charting the mental breakdown of a rock star, and the chaotic thoughts in his head.
Some good cartoon sequences in it, though. Especially on 'clear blue skies'.
Oh.. and the song 'comfortably numb' makes up for it all. But then... you can listen to that without having to sit through the movie.
I might listen to the Album again, but I doubt I'd ever watch the film again. Not because it's BAD per se, but just because it's.. well.. kinda predictable. Once you've seen it... you've seen it.
