View Full Version : The Double Standard of Lies - Liberal Media?

Ok, it is no secret that the media is always biased against the democratic candidate for president and against democratic presidents in office but the Right is always *****ing and moaning--saying that the media is "liberal" and "slanted to the Left".

Whatever...if you remember, when Al Gore was running everyone talked about how he lied about creating the internet (he said he encouraged its development--which he did) how he inspired a character in a novel (the author says he actually did) and a bunch of other insignificant shit. Of course everyone ignored the fact that Gore was a fucking hypocrite concerning the environment and worked to stop the production of affordable AIDS medication in South Africa.

On the other side, Bush was lying through his teeth the entire time and was never once--not one fucking time--called on it...and I'm not just talking about the crack. In one of the debates Bush said that he worked to bring Republicans and Democrats together in his "home" state of Texas to pass a patients bill of rights. I live in Texas so this offended the hell out of me. In reality Bush vetoed the first draft of the bill and then only allowed the next draft through to avoid the embarrassment of having his veto overridden.

That is ONE example out of hundreds...

What do you guys think?

Good points.
And indeed it is true that bush was crowned our next president even before the election.

One good point jello biafra makes is that the corporations didn't cover the issues that gore talked about at his convention, just the kiss he had with his wife.

More like the airbrushing of his genital area for the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. They also were giving constant updates to his possible tibetan(sp?) donations that quickly dropped off right after the election when they never found anything. But they sure in hell talked about it as much as possible. Kind of like whitewater.

Things they didn't go far enough into. Bush's and Chenney's overheard comments about the reporter that was a son of a *****. Real fitting for the leader of the free world.

The blatenly obviously ad by the republican party that had the subliminal message RATS appear.

Bush's DUI and the cover up. Because hey we all want a president that doesn't understand the concept of don't drink and drive. Seriously it is hard to understand that if you drink don't drive because you endanger your life and other's on the road.

They should have went into his failed oil company, what he did with the Houston Astros. How Houston has the worst air pollution in the nation and how he let corporations handle pollution on their own and removed strict laws for enviromental protection.

They should have also explained what compasionate conservative was, a conservative that is govenor of the state that puts more people to death than any other state. Or that compasion means pulling funding from public schools so you have one of the worse education programs in the nation. "Leave no child behind".

Every news story should have began with, "The compassionate C average college student with a drinking and coke problem who is running for the most powerful position in the world today said complete nonsense with the term "We need to put more food on our families", later lied and told kids he grew up reading a book that wasn't even published till he was in college."

Fox News, I'll give you as being more conservative, but CNN and MsNBC can hardly be painted as conservative outlets. Maybe their overwhelming liberalism is why they are suffering from faultering ratings. In fact, the parent company for MSNBC is discussing shutting them off all together.

The only media source the conservatives have a preponderant voice in is talk radio. Perhaps this is why the liberals constantly attack it. I see how liberals operate. They only hold to the doctorine of free speech when it falls into line with their perspective.

Would you guys also say that the New York and L.A. Times are conservative. I suppose the only sources the illiberals on this board would consider left enough are those lack credibility altogether. The Guardian and Z-magazine are the only true left wing outlets aren't they. I think you are just disgusted because the liberal media still resorts to trying to maintain the illlusion of objectivity. If you had your way the media would be state controlled and conservatives would be purged from the planet. The world has seen what you commies refer to as media.

Talk radio and Faux Nexs are so blatantly Right-wing that it isn't even funny...the other networks pretend to be liberal (most people are, you see) to raise ratings. Sure, they run their swarmy, politically correct human interest stories but when it comes down to it, they are whores for the corporations that give them life.

Norm, do you even deny that the media favored Bush the entire time?

Storman, are you serious? In my opinion, or at least in my area, CNN has always seemed more conservative than Fox. Overall, I don't like CNN. They seem to be under the impression that the world consists of the United States and Iraq.
