I searched, but couldn't find a thread on this topic...

So what does the community think. Free Will, or, Determinism

Is human action essentially pre-ordained? Is human nature pre-determined by genes and other factors?

Or are we completely free to make choices without restriction?

just curious!:D

This has been discussed here many times, for example:

Thanks for the links!

I mustn't have searched properly. I was wondering why deep thinking people hadn't brought this up before!

Engels quoting Hegel says in Anti-Duhring that freedom is the recognition of necessity. That's about as free as our wills ever get I'm afraid.

Well, once more you speak from ignorance; you need to read previous links on this, for this 'explanation' of Engels's falls into all the traps that other 'solutions' have, --as you will find I have shown in those threads.

At least I can define ignorance -- can you say "dialectics"?

Yes, you can define it by pointing to the figure in the mirror staring back at you when you have a shave

And what has my capacity to pronounce a certain word got to do with anything?
