Check out this site:
http://www.darpa.mil/iao/TIASystems.htm
It describes how the government is attempting to start a computerized tracking system of individuals. The site is not clear if they are targeting citizens but it a very real possibility. Look at salon.com, there's some good stuff on it over there.
Read the news article I posted in "Che Lives News."
I want to know what the righties think of this.

"The Total Information Awareness (TIA) program is a FY02 new-start program. The goal of the Total Information Awareness (TIA) program is to revolutionize the ability of the United States to detect, classify and identify foreign terrorists – and decipher their plans – and thereby enable the U.S. to take timely action to successfully preempt and defeat terrorist acts."
Those BASTARDS!!!!
Oh and the way you described this article, is FLAWED.

everybody is consider a terrorist nowdays, to know who is terrorist (or not) you have to spy everybody, wich can also be a excuse to control and have more power...

When reading about outfits like DARPA, people should keep in mind that (1) much of what they say is "vapor-ware"...intended to solicit funds for development; (2) much of what they actually have is of dubious reliability--face and speech recognition programs are kind of infamous and translation programs yield downright hilarious results; and (3) the MORE terabytes of information they gather, the WORSE they are at evaluating it.
Also, we should remember that it is to their advantage to make us THINK we are constantly under observation...so we will be too scared to say or do anything to resist their power.
In my opinion, the best response is, taking such precautions as seem reasonable, to say exactly what we want to say and do exactly what we want to do.
By all means, EXPOSE their hypocrisy...their pretence of defending "freedom" by spying on everyone. But they've been doing it since 1945 if not earlier...and any "laws" to stop them or even inhibit them have been largely ignored.
They believe in the myth of "intelligence equals security"...perhaps because it's the only way they can cope with what, to them, is incomprehensible...that there are actually LOTS of people who DESPISE their class tyranny. They feel that "if only" they can identify and apprehend the "trouble-makers"...resistence will disappear.
LOL! Let them believe it. When there's ten million people in the streets, all their hardware and software will be so much JUNKWARE!

How is my review of the article flawed? Again. When someone accuses someone of being wrong--back it up!!!
