Hello, Comrades,
My screen name is Buster Flynn, which is of course a historical reference, of the footnote variety. The auto-nag feature warns me that I'm in virtual mortal peril if I don't stop skulking, and come out and play nice, starting with introducing myself. Therefore, here I am! :-)
I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, where I've been an on-and-off activist for some time. I'm also something of a scholar. Ideologically, while my own thinking has a fairly clear trajectory, I've always been pretty open-minded and tolerant about differences-- ecumenical, you might say. Under current conditions, and all considered, the best general summary I can give is that I'm something of a popular front communist, which is a significant part (but not the whole) of why I've recently joined the CPUSA. However, despite rumors of vicious communist mind control to the contrary (a la Indiana Jones, perhaps), I make no secret of continuing to subscribe to other groups' papers and attend their events, as well. I'll even lend a hand, here and there, where I can.
Long story short, I think all tendencies have much more in common than anything that separates us; the hour is late, and the task is large. We should break down as many barriers to communication and common cause on the left as we can. It looks like RevLeft is doing great things in this area, and that's what initially attracted me.
Also... I'll want to post upcoming events from time to time... as I'm about to up and do, once I sign off here. So if you're ever here in the area (People's Republic of Norcal, so to speak), come say hi! We're (usually) a pretty friendly bunch.
