So go live in Cuba. It's nice to defend Socialism while taking full advantage of what a Capitalistic (mixed economy) has to offer.
Cuba is an oppressive dictatorship, and that's a FACT:
-One (and only one) party legally allowed.
-Castro hates Capitalism (but he loves that Yankee $$)
-People can be jailed simply by not agreeing with the government or making Castro's jokes.
-The people live in poverty (the whole island), while Castro lives like a King.

1- your multi american partry resumes to 2 partys. Democrats and republicans, and i cant decide which one is worse, hail hail west and its multi partys, yet i only see 2 partys runing for power

2- yea castro really loves money.... *sigh*

3- people are being arrested in U$a for being muslim and black, so think twice before accusing other country for repression without acepting repression within your own boarders

4-poverty felt in cuba is made by american embargo, no castro does not live like a king, nor does his people due to american embargo, castro developed cuban economy, while in the past 90% sofered from hunger, while 10% percent bath in gold, now 100% have enough to eat and have bether educationj than in america, they are poor, but not hunger like american children (btw stats say 10% of north american population dont have enough to eat so once again shut taht mouth cappie..)

Indeed the so called 'many party's' of the USA boil down to just 2 main contenders, which shall we call for the sake of things, 'crap and crapper'.

As I stated before, we have multiple parties in the U. S.
Yes---Fascists, Socialists, Commies, etc. When you go to the polls every 4 years, they're listed there on the ballott. People just don't vote for these extremists in mass numbers to make them win. Yes the Reps and Dems are the two main parties, but that's because the other parties don't get enough votes. Since this is a democracy, the majority of votes do rule. But to say we only have two parties is purely ignorant; then again, I never met a rational Marxist.

maxb if you would have read more carefully,
you would see that i am not defending cuba, rather i am just saying if someone wants to prepare an argument against cuba they could at least use the truth.

I guess MaxB has never taken a Civics course before...anyone who has could tell you how the system is rigged in order to keep third parties out. Everyone here, I'm sure, will concede this point.

I'll just add that I think that the best way for the United States to make the world safe for democracy--as we are so fond of bragging about--is to drop the embargo on Cuba. Lenin said that Fascism is Capitalism in decay, and he was right...but Fascism is also any socio-economic system in decay, including Socialism. Economic hardships in Cuba will only radicalize the country against the USA and in support of Castro making it possible for the regime to clamp down on dissent. The better conditions are in Cuba, the more democracy will thrive.

And in case anyone wants to say that Cuba is highly democratic, I'll just say in advance to actually research the Cuban political system.
