It's impossible for a government to micromanage the economy of a nation/country [PERIOD]
...and the Lefties keep on justyfying, redifining, and reinventig yourselves after each failure. Nobody ever said Capitalism was perfect, but Socialism is, at best, a disaster.
Hey, what are Commies doing using the internet---THAT'S A PRODUCT OF A CAPITALIST SOCIETY. What's the matter---too stupid to come up with your own ideas?

do you really believe that Capitalism is any better than socialism? Making a living on the backs of the workers and the poor, wow that's a great way to live... Yeah the net is a product of cappie society, but utilizing it to spread a socialist message is appropriate in my eyes.

i think maxB is saying that noone claims that capitalism is grand or anything, i don't think he thinks it morally right - but he's being more objective i suppose than many on here. MaxB is focusing on the few examples of when dictators etc have hijacked the theory to get them their own power and needs etc, this is how MaxB sees socialism (even though Britain is under a Democractic Socialist Party....). Fair enough, i personally don't agree with MaxB though.

"What's the matter--too stupid to come up with your own ideas?"
We do it all the time, Max, but we can't help it if you're not bright enough to even see them as ideas, much less actually understand them. :D

As good an idea as socialism is in theory, I have trouble believing that technology as advanced as the internet could have progressed so rapidly under socialism. There's not enough competition or incentive for progress. That's not to say that capitalism is better, but there are ups and downs.

Hey MaxB, I haven't been around lately but when was the last time you posted an ORIGINAL thought? You seem to be a master of the cut and paste. But I think we all learned how to do that in the 3rd grade. (OK I didn't but when I was in third grade there was only one computer in the school--a TI)
Your posts are utterly stupid and repitive. Here's an idea, post an orginal piece about why capitalism is better than socialism and then proceed to argue the finer points of your argument in successive posts. You see, this is how the board works. You, my friend, have failed to grasp this idea.

Actually, Common Sense, the internet could have rightfully been developed via in a socialist society. One of the biggest paradigms of free software is closely aligned with (at least in ideology) marxism. (GNU). Of course, in a third world country, not much in terms of industrial revolutions could take place, let alone full-scale construction of cabling and wire implementation required to set up and create the internet as we know it.
Of course, that all could change very rapidly. A country doesn't have to be industrialized to be highly technologically coherent. Of course, a body this size would push more and more personal freedom, which would confuse the capitalists even more... how can we be 'free' if we don't sit through ads telling us how to think every twenty seconds?!?!?!?!? ^_^
Sincerely,
Kows

In response to Moskitto's comment on the internet.
The internet is a product of the human mind so using it doesn't make you a capitalist. Just because we live in a capitalist society does not mean we credit capitalism with human creation.

The internet is another great example of what our money buys when we opt to use it for defense spending rather than social programs. It was created by the DOD to ensure that certain vital information would survive a cataclysmic event. No it wasn't Al Gore who invented the internet, it was the type of people who create new technology. The same men that you leftists despise for their greatness. Previously known as DARPAnet, it was originally only used by academics and computer nerds like the one depicted in War Games. Like all great ideas it caught on like wildfire. Soon enough your average idiots were coining phrases like 'surfing the internet', and people flocked to overgrown bloated corporations like AOL to help them tap into a seemingless unending supply as data.
