Anyone read the book or seen the movie?

I just saw the movie, it was fuckin' awesome, especially the ending.

Check it out if you haven't already, but be sure not to watch the crappy "audience friendly" version.

Hated the ending. It left me with a face that said ..."WTF?!"...That's it? Same face I had for August Rush but that's another story all together.

Yeah but that was the awesome thing about it!

Usually the ending is predictable and therefore shitty.

I'm a huge Steven King fan. I could not get into The Mist though. (or 1408)

I like the pretense of the story , but really it just did not do it for me. Maybe I should give it another shot.

Great movie in terms of everything but the theme, which I found to be a bit too misanthropic. Otherwise, this is how horror films should be - less of the monster, more of the slow psychological breakdown of the people. The religious-lady-swinging-a-knife shot was great, and the ending was...terrible. In a good way. Gave me nightmares, though.

This comes as a co-incidence since I watched the film for the first time last night. I actually thought it was pretty shit. The way in which it represented the breakdown of law and order, effects of social stress on individual and mass hysteria were interesting, but for me, lame monsters killed the rest. Loved the ending as well though.
