Anyone who could possibly make it needs to be there to protest, it would be a terrible blow to the left in britain, and a let down for all our comrades across the world, if we cannot make a big show of solidarity with all who he has killed and oppressed, and reject the presence of this scum in Britain. From STWC:
1) GEORGE BUSH HERE IN JUNE: BE READY
Will they never learn? War criminals are not wanted here.
George Bush will visit Britain Between June 9 and 16. The
last time he was here, in November 2003, it provoked one of
the biggest mid-week demonstrations in British history, with
up to 300,000 on London's streets. Since then his war of
terror has led to the loss of over a million lives and
spread from Iraq and Afghanistan to Pakistan, Somalia and
Kenya, with ever intensifying threats suggesting Iran is
next.
When Condoleezza Rice visited in March 2006, it turned into
a public relations disaster, with large demonstrations in
Liverpool, Blackburn and everywhere else she went. Only last
week the fanatical warmonger John Bolton, formerly Bush's
ambassador to the United Nations and vociferous advocate of
an immediate attack on Iran, cancelled a planned visit to
Bristol for fear of the anti-war demonstration that was
planned to meet him. (See http://tinyurl.com/4uvq2r)
We're sure that everyone who has opposed George Bush's war
policies and the slavish support he has received from the
British government will want to make their voice heard when
this warmonger-in-chief visits the UK. Stop the War will of
course aim to organise the largest possible protest against
George Bush's visit. More details to follow shortly

BUSH DEMO: TIME CHANGE AND POLICE BAN
George Bush's itinery for his visit on Sunday 15 January is
now confirmed. He is going to Downing Street for dinner and
the Stop the War/CND demonstration has therefore been changed.
The protest now assembles at 5.00pm in Parliament Square.
Please publicise the changed time as widely as you can and
encourage everyone you know who opposes George Bush's endless
warmongering, and the servile support he receives from the
British government, to join us.
We have applied to demonstrate down Whitehall but so far the
police, presumably under instructions from US security, are
banning us. We are challenging the ban. Please send messages
of complaint to the Home Secretary:
* Telephone: 020 7035 0198
* Fax: 020 7035 0900
* Email:
[email protected]
You can also complain to the Metropolitan Police about the
proposed ban: Telephone: 020 7230 1212.
Stop the War will also be organising a protest when George
Bush goes to Windsor for tea with the Queen at 3.00pm.

For decades the squatting of vacant property has played an important role in the history of London; from the mass squatting by families who lost their homes in the blitz of World War Two, to the recent squatting by homeless migrant workers. But London’s squat scene has also been a hotbed of political resistance, not least in the squatted social centres that today provide one of the few spaces in our city where counter-culture flourishes untainted.
Representatives from three of London’s best-known squatted social centres, Hackney Social Centre, 56a Info-shop, and Wominspace, will be hosting an informal talk at Housmans to discuss the current state of the squat scene, to share experiences on resisting eviction, and to give advice on how to set up your own squat successfully.
Time: 7 PM
Date: Wednesday, June 11th 2008
Location: Housmans Bookshop, 5 Caledonian Road, King's Cross, London N1 9DX
Perspectives for the international class struggle

Just as the world economic crisis is no longer something that can be hidden by debt-fuelled ‘prosperity’, so the class struggle can no longer be dismissed as a ‘thing of the past’. In the past couple of years, faced with the erosion of living standards that results from the crisis, we have seen increasingly widespread, massive and simultaneous workers’ struggle all across the world – from the movement against the CPE in France to the massive revolts by textile workers in Bangladesh and Egypt, from the courageous demonstrations of construction workers in Dubai to the defiant expressions of solidarity on the picket lines of oil tanker drivers in Britain. Some of these strike movements have been linked to hunger revolts as the spiralling price of food makes daily survival increasingly difficult.
In this forum we will be discussing the dynamic of these movements, examining a number of the key issues they pose: what forms of organisation do workers need to control and spread their struggles; what kinds of demands best serve the struggle; what can be done when the struggle dies down; what is the connection between strikes and hunger revolts; how can workers draw out the political perspectives raised implicitly and sometimes explicitly by their resistance against the effects of the capitalist crisis?
The ICC will begin with a short presentation, but the main part of the meeting will be devoted to open discussion. Please come with your questions, comments and criticisms

London French Embassy protest, Monday 20th July 12.30pm
France’s Interior Minister Eric Besson made it clear in January that he wanted to see all migrants removed from Calais and the surrounding area by the end of this summer. And the project has already started with the bulldozing of camps at Loon-Plage and Teteghem and the destruction of squats in Calais.
Now comes the main act in this summer festival of destruction.
The French Government are planning the destruction of the main Pashtun Jungle in the Dunes of Calais on 21st July, prior to a mass deportation flight to Afghanistan. Campaigners are calling for solidarity actions on both sides of the Channel.
London No Borders and No Borders Brighton are calling for a
demonstration outside the French Embassy in London on Monday 20th
July to protest the repression and planned mass deportations of
migrants living around Calais, France.

The Crisis
The crisis in modern society isn’t just about economics. It’s about the crisis in the environment too and about the crisis in international relations. Several major wars are being fought “on our behalf” whilst worldwide rabid nationalism., fascism and fundamentalism are making headway. All of these crises effect each other. We need to examine the effects of these crises, how they interconnect and whether a solution to these problems is possible.
Series of public meetings convened by the Anarchist Federation

A World of Trouble –the Ecological Crisis and the Crisis in the Economy
The economic crisis is having a big effect on any attempt to solve the escalating environmental crisis. One can’t be fought without fighting the other.

Since the June 2009 elections, the situation in Iran has dramatically changed. Thousands have taken to the streets in defiant protest – despite the Iranian regime’s history of brutal repression. Initially, they were commonly portrayed as middle-class backers of the leading ‘reformist’ candidate Mir-Hossein Moussavi, but as protests have continued, and Moussavi himself has repeatedly shown his timidity and ties to the theocratic state, the mood has radicalised dramatically and this anger has embroiled wide swathes of the society. Many of those who were initially protesting against the election outcome now question the entire basis of Iran’s Islamic republic and there are daily strikes and protests. Come along to our AGM to discuss this and many other issues.
