Yes. You noticed; I'm trying to be cynical and sarcastic again.
Anyway...
I just found out that one of the victims in the Bali attack was an English backpacker that I used to chill out with...His name was Chris Redmond...A fellow traveller and Raleigh International youth volunteer, Chris Redmond leaves behind a wife, Claire Hatton. Chris lived in Jakarta, Indonesia, if I recall correctly, and was a really cool person.
I just found out today. Shit.
Chris was one of the few particularly open people that I had met when I was travelling in Borneo, back in '98. None of that stiff upper lip crap, he was very open about how he enjoyed living and working in South East Asia. He used to say stuff about how fascinating the region's cultures was to him, how different life was over here.
I never thought I'd ever contribute to the "War on Terrorism" hype, but well, there you go.
In retrospect, even though I didn't really know Chris that well, I think it's really shit that it had to happen to him. I can empathise now. I'd seen him before, he wasn't a stranger, a "victim" you read about in the newspapers. He was a real-life person, and that just scares the shit out of me.
Fuck this.

I hope you come to terms with your loss.

It's pretty sad that it takes a personal loss for someone like you to recognize the importance of the threat we are facing. I am sorry about your friend, as I am sorry for all those who have been casualties in this war against modern civilization waged by Muslim fanatics. May justice prevail in the days to come. Never before has death been a more righteous punishment for murderous cowards who deliberately plan the destruction of life.

Not "murderous cowards", just people. Needless to say, those orchestrating the war also "deliberately plan the destruction of life"

I hate to break it to you, dipshit, the U.S. does not have a state sponsored religion. We are not a theocracy. Therefore, your claim that it was the Christian backed U.S. that murdered enemy combatants that we were engaged in a war with is preposterous. I would like to see you make that claim to a Vietnam Vetran, you coward.

Would it be safe to say however that teh majority of Americans are christian though?

According to the cross-section of the population that I know, you would not be safe in making that claim. However, 50 +% of Americans probably consider themselves to be Christians. I don't think the majority of them could be considered fanatics, who murder in the name of Jesus and want to impose a theocracy. I am sure their are very few.

Well, my friend was Christian. I respect that fact. I don't expect anyone else to do the same, but hey, it's your choice. Peace.

The english national anthem says "God bless the queen", that doesn't make every British citizen religious.

How very closed-minded of you, Norm. I don't think it took a personal loss, I think he was merely expressing his sorrow. Perhaps I am wrong but I would not be so presumptive as to immediatly leap to that conclusion.

I agree with the guest.
The People don't have signs with " God Bless The Queen In The Garden"
I have been in america quite many times and seen " God Bless America" signs in most houses
