Hey! Why are Gary Moore, Ritchie Blackmore, Michael Schenker and Angus Young (among many others) not on the list?
And Phil Lynott is not a guitarist, great bassist and singer though he was.
David Bowie? Give me a break! Even I am better than he is, and I am crap!

I think you were drunk when you made your list.
BB King, Chuck Berry, Joan Jett, Kaki King, Suzi Cuatro (bassist, but she did play some 6-string), Eric Clapton, Duane Allman, Peter Townshend, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jerry Garcia, Johnny Ramone, Robert Fripp, Frank Zappa, Ike Turner, Robbie Krieger, Eddie Hazel, Mark Knopfler. . .
My personal vote goes to Carlos Santana, but next week it may be someone else.

Then best change Lynnot with somebody else, because he was a bass player, not a guitarist.
I voted Hendrix.

This poll is awful.
Firstly, Phil Lynott played base.
Secondly, sorry to dispel the popular myth held by those under the age of 16 who are just getting into music and think that RATM are 'well rebel', but Tom Morello is not an epicly great guitarist and certainly not the 'best' guitarist.
Thirdly, I like the Smiths, Radiohead and David Bowie; but neither Marr, Greenwood or Bowie should be on this list or even anywhere near it.
The best guitarists are individuals most people probably haven't heard of who play some of the most god-awful and pretentious shite ever released, but in fairness also some really great stuff too. Steve Via, Joe Satriani, Buckethead, Yngwie Malmsteen, John Petrucci, etc.

i choose Tom Morello. :confused::confused::confused:
This is because you know nothing about music, or confuse 'favourite' with 'best'.

Stevie Ray Vaughan, in my opinion. This poll is shit.

Out of your list, Hendrix.
But a comprehensive list should not leave out key styles of guitar-playing like flamenco and classical.
Off the top of my head: Paco de Lucia, Paco Pena, Vicente Amigo, Paco Cepero, Sanlucar, Sabicas, Segovia, Narciso Yepes, Tarrega, Sor

If we're talking electric era, it's gotta be Hendrix. The best guitarist of all time for me though has to be Charley Patton (cue various blank looks).

Other than Morello, Hendrix and Page, no one on that list is even very talented as a guitarist. I mean, my opinion on their music aside, they just aren't good at all. Not to mention that in Thin Lizzy, Lynott was on bass.
love stevie, but my heart aways belongs to page.

<<Ritchie Blackmore,<,
Funny you mention Ritchie Blackmore, rosa. I share a cousin with Deep Purple/ Rainbow singer (also Yngwie) Joe Lynn Turner. He recorded the 1990's Deep Purple Slaves and Masters album --that's the album most DP fans hated because it sounded like Rainbow and apparently he didn't replace Ian Gillian easily. He's actually DP's 5th singer!! anyhow, he's related to my cousin on her father's side and i am related on her mothers side or more specifically, his cousin married my cousin and produced my younger cousin Michelle. he hee... small world. I never really got into Deep Purple or Rainbow myself, (stone cold is a lame song) and I prefer the Ian Gillian stuff if i had to choose.

I voted Hendrix, that man had soul. I think George Harrison was a great guitarist as well.
