Inaction is not am option"-George Bush, 11 March 2002
-----------------------------------------------------------
No war on Iraq
sign the pledge of resistance
Since the terrible atrocities of September 11, thousands of innocent people have been killed in pursuance of the so-called "war on terrorism", a war wich now looks set to claim the lives of thousands - perhaps tens of thousands - more.
The attack on Iraq being planned in Washington is illegal an would, in the words of Save the Childre, "lead to a humanitarian disaster for wich the international community would bear a heavy responsability".
according to UNICEF's representative in Iraq, Carol de Rooy, if military action interrupts the distribution of the monthly food ration - the life-line for millions of impoverished Iraqis- there could even be "famine on a large scale".
since the beginning of this year over a thousand people have signed a pledge of resistance, committing themselves to taking part in acts of nonviolent civil disobedience should Iraq-or any other country- be attacked in the course of the "war on terrorism". Hundreds more have pledged to support them. We support such nonviolent resistance and urge readers to sign the Pledge on-line at www.j-n-v.org .
