I'm thinking of writing a story about the Spanish Civil War, but I would like to make sure that my ideas are original. It's about two people who fall in love during the Spanish Civil War, and there'll be a lot of corny stuff and campy references and the like.

There's an Italian -or whatever... I'm flexible on the nationality- guy who's in an IB, and a young woman from the Basque country. They do stuff, and that's the novel. It seems like a very simple idea, so I'm worried that something like that's been done before, and it probably has. I plan on adjusting the plot to be more new, but I need some examples of adventure novels about the Spanish Revolution/Civil War.:thumbup1:

I think that is a bad idea, unless you write about something really original. there are plenty of people who have written novels about the SPCW who actually witnessed the event

Yes, it has been done before unfortunately, as no less than masterpiece of one of the greatest writers of the XXth century.

For Whom the Bell Tolls by Ernest Hemingway. Read it.

I'm reading For Whom the Bell Tolls right now. Also try Orwell's Homage. That's a first hand account of front line life.
