I'd say the initiatives definitely went left.
As for the senate and house, democrats really didn't get out and vote, mainly because the democratic party has no leadership, and also because they embraced george bush way too much, with his tax cut, war, etc...
The fascist conservative scum have a place to go, the fascist party of ameirca, the republicans, the democrats of this country have no real place to go, they can comprimise or vote green.
It's worth noting that in elections with a green and a libertarian, a majority of them went green.
Republicans have cheated in florida for your fascist jeb anyways.
Florida voters are already calling into local radio stations reporting that when they cast votes for Jeb Bush's opponent, McBride, the machine regularily registered it as for Bush. The individual voters had to request technicians to fix the glich, but its presumed many may have not noticed how it was registered after pressing the button for McBride.
The same problems are not occurring in primarily Republican strongholds.

also, an austin paper is reporting that this morning, fake phone calls went out for "supporting" the democratic senatorial candidate, but actually lied about his stated positions in an attempt to scare people away from him.
also, its interesting to look at who actually owns the voting machine companies:

Probably the greatest part of Jeb's victory in Florida is what it says about the political capital of both Clinton and Gore. Both men did heavy campaigning in that area and the demorats claimed it would be the test of George's presidential mandate. When they bring out the big guns and still lose what should have been an easy victory, that speaks against the perceived political clout of the Clinton/Gore team. They are a disgrace to this nation and the democratic party should distance themselves from them if they wish to continue to be a viable party.
Hopefully this marks the beginning of the end of the Democrats. We need a party that represents those in the Democratic party that are just left of center. I hope the Demoncats are finished and a new party forms that can better challenge the Republicans. I have some reservations about having both houses of congress and the presidency controled by a single party. Time for a new vision of political thinking to emerge and the weaker party to die off. Hopefully the Democrats go down like the Whig party. Who knows maybe we can get a viable communist party to represent the working class, since the Dems have failed. Yeah right, exchange one group of losers for a group of subhuman vultures. That would be the kind of idiocy I would expect from the left wing of this country.

Democrats have no one to blame but themselves for the recent election results. Falure to put up progressive candidates who stand firmly on issues and contunued support of the Bush administration really gives one no reason to support them.
