I was walking through my local town then other day when i passed a bunch of 'trendies', you know, nike and addidas all over etc, and anyway, one of them was wearing a pink jacket with 'CCCP' on it.

I asked her if she knew what it was, she said it was a new US brand, and asked if i was buying it, she showed me the label, apparently, 'SoVieT' is a brand name ?

SO , i told her what it meant, in russian , and she dissappered, probably to take it back or whatever, but my point is, why do kids with no knowledge of it, (i know a few) , wear tops or jackets with CCCp or CUBA, HAVANA, or even, USSR on them ?

This kind of people make me angry.
They wear clothes without knowing anything about what it means.
If someone make clothes with swastika on it and tell them that it is trendy, they would buy it and wear it.
Assholes always follow the fashion. I just hate them.

When I was in London, I saw a lot of those. Cuba, CCCP, Havana, and such.

There's a huge increase in people wearing clothes like that over here (Ireland). They even sell CCCP pyjama's in one of the department stores. Can you just see Stalin cuddled up in front of the fire in his CCCP pyjamas?

I'd Rather See CCCP on a shirt than the same old USA - "United We Stand!" bull crap.

But I'll bet that half of the people who wear it don't realise what CCCP stands for (or even realise it's cyrillic, not latin based characters).

you have put the oddest image in my head.

and speaking of the swastika, i heard of a restaurant. i dont remember which country but it was in asia somewhere. anyways, i guess the theme of the restaurant is nazism. when asked about the decor, people say it is because it "looks" cool. spiffy symbols and clean cut uniforms are appearently enough for people to ignore millions of corpses.

I have a cool image in my head Jaha. Stalin is like a cartoon character and his head takes up like half of his body and he has a teddy bear too.

And then there's those restaurants called 'Mao' ..

i hate it more than anything, Cuba is a favourite as well as republic. Why do these people insist on ripping something else off? Makes me so angry i hate it. On another note, you know fcuk (french connection uk if your stupid!) i hate the fact that they play on it so muc, everywhere i see tops which say possibly the greatest fcuk and so on and so forth. I vow never to wear that corporate crap in my life.

I wear a shirt with CCCP on it--I know what it means and I like it. CCCP also stands for Corpus Christi communist party as well, they seem to support a christian communism that has anarchist tendancies to it, whatever, i like it because it has a large sickle and hammer on it. Anybody see the movie sid & nancy? it looks like the one they have sid vidious wearing in that movie, only his doesn't have the cccp on it. Sid vicious actually wore a nazi shirt, just to piss people off; I wear my communist shirt just to piss off capitalists as well.

People in Russia were generally happier under communism than today's current capitalistic russia anyway.

Kinda bugs me too, but I figure we should support it you know? Who cares if they're not interested in what it actually means, most 'christian's don't give a shit about christs teachings, but it adds to their followers.

I'd like to see this get big enough that right wingers of TV like O'Reilly start *****ing about it.

It might be stupid, but thats all it is, and funny, I can't tell you how hard I laughed when I saw JayZ on MTV wearing a che guevara T-shirt, espcially when his videos are always about his great amount of money.

You been seeing kids with Che shirts? Most don't have a fucking clue who he is but they think he looks cool or something, and they call me dumbass and give some bullshit irrelevant explanation of who REALLY is on his shirt once I reveal who che actually was.

yah supporting it works... Support it by informing kids... the rihgt-wing punks and trendies will simpley stop wearing it and the real working clas kids will pick itup

It seems to me that the companies that make those clothes are making a joke about the CCCP or Che. The USSR collapsed, and it was capitalism's enemy. So the victor goes around with the arrogance of victory, sporting the logo's and symbols of their defeated enemy. Kind of like an indian sporting the scalp of a fallen enemy.

There are actually Christian anarchists aswell. I'm pretty sure Lenin said that religion was to be done in the home so I guess christian communism is not such a stupid term after all.

We have people over here in NZ who wear Che t-shirts and red stars and stuff, so yeah we do like what someone already mentioned an hit them up, ask if they understand and stuff. Plus we have this shop here that sells shoes and they have Che, Mao and workers militia pictures on the wall and its called da da da da REVOLUTION, but the one good thing they did is advertised our commemoration of CHE

What a dumb fuck. Great story. I laughed my ass off. What a dumb *****. No surprise, people like that do exist and apparently have no concept of history, or reality for that matter. Excellent post.

An interesting passage Iepilei. Basically destroys the whole notion of organised religion.

I really can't stand people that don't know anything about anyhing. They wear it because it's "cool, hip and with it". WAY TOO MANY people are like that. I haven't seen all that many che shirts but i have seen a lot of anarchist shirts. Plus i love the reaction when you tell them what the symbols or letters really mean.

One interesting explanation about che was that he was a puerto rican rock star.

Of course I didn't know puerto rico even had rock stars but we learn something new everyday.

I looked everywhere for a CCCP sweater, can't find em here in the Great white North (Canada) so i got one made. Only person around here who wears one, the trendies haven't caught onto it up here yet.
