People are forever asking me, in the street, at my school , even out with my mates, WHY ARE YOU WEARING THAT ?, they refer to the small, black and gold star, with a hammer and sickle in the centre that i wear.

They say things like COMMIE GIT, F**CK OFF TO RUSSIA, and various others, leading me to beleive that perhaps the USA was successfull in its cold war long hate campain against the 'reds'.

People who believe that communism is evil are people who have never heard of Marx, Lenin or Che Guevara, they just see 'hammer and sickle', and think, oooohhh james bond kills people wearing that, its got to be evil .

My usual reply is 'DO I SOUND BLOODY RUSSIAN ?'they then shut up and go away, but please, just because a man name Stalin and the CIA etc managed to give the USSR a bad name, dont think that communsim is evil, get a copy of the manifesto, preferably an older, non-US copy, read it and see what a mistake you've made.

Yes true, people consider it 'bad' politics. If I wear something in this new school I go to in New York, kids say OMG! It's a red Russian! Do I look Russian? Didn't think so. I ask them if they know anything about it, they say that it's bad and ask me why anyone would want to be communist. They say "Don't you want freedom?" and stupid things like that.

I am not so worried about the people who love bush, believe the war on terrorism.

It is the truly scary soccer mom, the conformists at schools, the shopper whose proffession is really just shopping, people with the key chains or bumper stickers - shop till ya drop, the guy that works overtime for free, the people who cross a picket line, weapons engineers, people who like being in debt, 4 hour a night TV watching folk, people who ask why you would read a book, people that buy sportscar that can go 160 MPH but the speed limit is 65 or 55, people that judge success by house size, yearly incomes and the clothes that you wear. People that drive SUVs, want us to clear cut the forests, don't think that corporations are against us and for only themselves, people that look for any reason to feel good about themselves. People that can only see beauty on the outside and can actually make fun of how somebody looks.

These are the people I fear, these are the people that don't and will never put a thought past "What is on Friends tonight", or will hum commercial jingles. They don't want to like communism, they don't want to even hear about it, just like the poor, unemployed, alcoholic soaked abusive father, it doesn't exists.

The biggest stance outside the circle of their friends will be, "hmmm should I wear these sneakers with these socks?" Seriously, it is a vapid exsitence that has been taught to them.

I take a lock of stock in the fact that I am not them.

No... the US propoganda machine and people like Robert Conquest and Hearst made Stalin and the USSR look bad. while they were still doing nothing to stop lynchings and the KKK, the US government was portraying Stalin and Lenin as demonic monsters. Which NIETHER were. For desparate times, desparate measures. Dzerzhinsky made it clear before he died that the purges were necessary, that the cheka needed to "clean house." Kulaks were murderous capitalists and they deserved what they got. Stalin industrialized and modernized Russia without the help of slavery and sweatshop labor like the capitalist societies, his people did it themselves. 1 million lives was the price. But compare this to the lives lost to modernize Western Europe and the Americas. All built upon the lands of natives by the slave labor of the blacks. The population of South America plunged from over 25 million to a little over a million during a hundred years thanks to Spanish enslavement. Compare that to 1 million deaths in the Soviet Union. And the Spaniards weren't even modernizing, while the USSR had to make good the distance of 100 years of backwardness in 10 years. You are right about the CIA, but you, like everyone else, fail to see the necessity of Stalin's actions.
