Never talk to a police officer.
Here's an interesting video by a law professor at Regent Law School (Christian--founded by Pat Robertson!) where he tells his class of future lawyers why their client should never speak to the police when questioned. He recommends they take the 5th admendment, ALWAYS.
Pretty interesting stuff. It's long, but worth the time to listen. This only applies to the USA of course, I have no idea what the laws in the rest of the world are.

This might be good advice for lawyers to tell clients who are idiots, but always use common sense.
If an officer pulls you over because one of your headlights is burnt out, you're probably far better off explaining that it just happened and that you plan to fix it tomorrow than to refuse to answer any questions about your busted headlight. Use your best judgement, as always. The key is to know your rights so that you can know what options you have available.

at may day protests, we get given leaflets telling us that we should refuse to saying anything to the polis until we get a lawyer/solicitor and when they get there, say even fucking less. the reasons will be similar to those in the US but the legalities are doubtlessly alot more archaic and complicated.

say nothing, ask for the police officers number if he so much as swears,
he wouldnt do it to an old lady and it isnt okay to do it to you, knowledge of the independant police complains committee is a good tool to make them act more reasonably if they giving you a hard time after they pull you in,
sing the harry roberts song as well if they are annyoing

I don't know what he does in Jolly Old England, but here in America he stays out of some of his "better" publications (WSJ) and really invented an interesting Network--Fox News.
I'm a bit too old to even log onto MySpace without feeling like a pervert. :)
