Sooooooo.

So there's a show on VH-1. It's about rock and roll bands, that were formed in, and perform in, prison. It's basically a half hour (maybe an hour, I wouldn't know, I haven't seen it; which is exactly my point and I'll get to) documentary.

Victims right's group's are freaking out. They claim this show glamorizes these guys, and, more seriously, the crimes they commited. The relatives of these guys' victims are freaking out because they feel it's exploitave. Which is quite a legitimate concern, and something to rage out against if it's true.

This is all very admirable, except for one thing: I don't think any of these fucking people have even SEEN the GODDAMN SHOW YET.

HOW DO THEY KNOW it's exploitive? For all they know it's a SCATHING condemnation of these guys as people, while at the same time being a legit account of the bizarre phenomenom that they play music behind bars. Which, being a channel about MUSIC, I would say is well within their frame of EXPERTISE.

In other words, it may be a bit of a COMPLICATED story about very, very COMPLICATED people. Which, last I checked was still allowed to be a subject worth exploring and TALKING ABOUT.

These people (who are doing nothing less than promoting CENSORSHIP) are completely, and irresponsibly jumping the gun.

And if it is exploitive, then so be it. Then go out and express yourselves and advocate. I say all power to you. The last thing we need on tv is more stupid documentaries. However, good ones, I personally can't get enough of.

I wonder if it's asking too much of these people to let me turn on the tv and decide for myself.........?
