Maybe this should be in events but , Ireland after voting no (quite rightly) is being ignored by the rest of the EU and by our own government , are their any actions by comrades in other EU countries about this . Were not Anti-Europe and this should be a the spark that ignites a fightback throughout Europe against the political Elites in Brussels.

Look , Ireland after voting no effectively vetoed this treaty right ,but the rest of the parliaments are continuing to pass it , which will leave us isolated , unless people from other EU nations mobilise to put pressure on the elites .

Maybe the next EU leaders meeting on the treaty would be a good site of protest for local trade unionists etc.?

Aye yes , that does make sense , but we need concrete action , is anyone on this site active in other countries of the EU and would be in a position to push for organisation ?

You make a good point comrade. The Irish working class said no. What are the working class in the rest of the EU saying by doing nothing?

you have to udnerstand that in Britain, barely anyone talks about this, because 1.) we didn't have a referendum and 2.) Britain is so backwards anwyay that there aren't really much welfare gains to lose anyway by the neo-liberalisation of the EU, in fact many of the centre left in Britain hope the EU will be a curb on the excesses of the British government.

I still think it's important to agitate against the treaty and build solidarity with the Irish workign class, but honestly, I don't think it's a big issue in workers consciosuness right now :(

Perhaps France, Germany and Italy are different, because to those countries that still have some workers rights, the EU's neo-liberal nature is more clear, the EU is their borugeoisie's way fo trying to push through what happened to Britain int he 1980's.

Concretely right now though perhaps the most improtant thing is for the NO campaign in Ireland to keep up demands on the government making sure they fight for what was voted for? I mean you have a head start, you already have a NO movement. Couldn't they be threatened with mass miltiant direct action if they don't use all their power to fight this as they have been commanded to by the working class? I don't think this sows illusions in them, it's a direct demcoratic demand, nothing else, and it could in fact help break people's illusions in the government.

Also a real set of workers actions in Ireland against this would be an example to the rest of Europe wouldn't it, and especially coutnries like France/Italy Germany might see it spread, as well as Britain for geographical reasons (and paradoxically because signigificant sections of our right-wing press might build for pro-referendum protests, albeit ina very reactioanry way which we couldn't make a cause with, but which may help spread the question so that we can then pose the need for a workers alternative).

wow that answer turned out longer than I had expected.
