1.Imagine yourself to be a capitalist, what part of the capitalist ideology appeals to you somehow/somewhat?
2.Imagine yourself to be a socialist, what part of the Socialist ideology appeals to you somehow/somewhat?
I challenge the socliasts here to answer question number 1 and I challenge the capitalists to answer question number 2.
Also, give proper argumentation for your answers.
seems like a good idea, it could prove interesting if some people would participate.

1. Trade appeals to me, but we must work on making trade fair for all of those involved. I am reading a book right now on the history of oil, and one thing that interests me in the book is the fact that giant international companies involved in the oil business during great times of stress such as the depression and through the time of WW I and II, these companies in partnership, as much as they could, worked together to optomize output, divide regions, share profits and maintain a great necessity alive during. Well we all know it doesn't stay this way, but I do not understand countries who think of themselves as independent of any needs via trade or what have you. The Germans and Japanese aimed for this.....
2. As for the socialist spectrum, I reckon that a state should provide proper health care and education for its people. I do not believe in the privatization of such establishments. I can envision a somewhat limited partnership with government and business in these fields, as it seems to me when profits are on the line, business tends to be more efficient and cost effective, sometimes it is too cost effective, well I hoipe you understand what I mean.
Basically I see each system, both Capitalist and Socialist as having its equal merits, as always I am schizmed.

intersting IzmSchism, We share the same view based on your arguments.
especially argument 2.
As for the first, I'm always sceptic of such cooperations working together. they might artificially keep the price up for certain goods to maximize profits.
Here in the netherlands this is the case in the construction sector.
The companies worked toghether and held secret meetings where they decided who gets a deal and tune to each others prices. This way no one went below each other and they made sure everyone was compensated.
So company A. would get the contract to build an aquaduct and next time company B would get a contract to build some new highway.
Goverment officials would get bribed and get all expense paid holidays and such. The goverment official would then make sure a company was to receive the building contract.
So, I'd rather see such companies not woring together, but instead really compete with each other.
Comapanies would then be forced to produce a certain price-quality product. Independent reasearch would then point out wich product has the best price-quality combination so that consumers are able to choose for themselves.
Hope this makes sense. Cheers.

1. I like the idea of personal freedom, and if i were capitalist, I'd claim that it is the ultimate freedom. However, in practice, it isn't that way at all, as we all know. Apart from that, I can't think of anything about capitalism that appeals to me at all.
