I wanted to know if anyone could give me ideas on how to start an organize a movement here in Florida. Im tired of sitting around an waiting for change to happen. I see everything failing here, Capitalism is near its end. But yet nothing i feel is being done to improve things. I have tried joining other groups but because of circumstances its hard for them to help u on a local level. I believe if i can start some of local revolution here we could really make a change. We could post up poster or handout leaflets an talking about the failures of capitalism what not. And any ideas u guys could come up with would be most helpfull. I have one other person who shares this thought with me. We are currently talking about it now.

This should be moved to the practice forum.

First, I would recommend that you (again) try to plug into some local organizations, if not to organize with to an end at least to get to see better what others are doing locally and what space your own organization could fill. You don't want to "recreate the wheel" by starting an organization from scratch (which takes a lot of effort) if there are ones already out there organizing in ways similar to yours.

For more details I can direct you to Wat's fantastic Beginners Guide to Getting ACTIVE" in which you will find a section "establishing your own organization" Here is the link: http://www.revleft.com/vb/beginners-guide-getting-t55586/index.html (http://www.revleft.com/vb/../beginners-guide-getting-t55586/index.html)

You should, first of all, find out exactly where you stand politically.

Which organizational methods do you believe are most effective and what are they based on.

Developing a program is also important, because without a program you will be aimlessly acting with no specific goals and targets.

This though, is all actually an incredible amount of work. My absolute first suggestion would be for you to find out what groups already exist in your area, get involved with some of them and see if you agree with their platforms, programs, methods and traditions. If none of them suit your beliefs then the above is the next step.

1. Purpose
2. How
3. Program
4. Action

This belongs in practice.

Thanks for all the help comrades. Sorry if i took a bit long to respond ive been a bit busy as of late. And i was not sure whether to put it in practice or DIY lol. I have tried joing other movements/organizations an what not but its like eh... dont feel like its doing anything on a local level(mainly cause i cant seem to find any here in orlando, ive even checked a post on diff movements an what not across the country an there is nothing really here). Alot of the movements are national an what not an its hard to work things on your local level, thas why i wish to start my own. I was thinking rather then protesting an all that goodstuff that the government jus ignores -_-... I would jus take action instead, such as help out our schools here, help with educating the people by flyposting an leaflets an what not with all sorts of information...like rights captitalism an why it fails, talk about iraq just stuff like. But I was thinking some kind of direct action rather then jus mass recruiting people into some national movement which there are plenty of an dont need anymore lol. I mean I will probly end up joing another movement or somthing to do things on a national level but on a local level i really want to start my own here. I understand it will be difficult but if there is no struggle there is no progress. Of course before starting anything i plan to educate my self much more on socialism communism capitalism an all that good stuff. Along with things going on now taht are current. I still have much to learn, why can never stop learning. But pretty much the idea is to haev a small group of people that we can trust an to take alot of action across our community. But the person(s) that are involed now dont exactly see which political stance we will go by, Either undesided or just cant agree with one...But the thing that unites us is we are very anti-capitalism an we share the same goals in the end. I was thinking just some kind of Social Democracy would be pretty neutral for us. We are just now starting to organzize ourselfs an coming up with our purpose methods goals finanacial an all that good stuff. Oh an some advice on our political stance would be great ^_^. Gah...i wrote a bit but thats good for now ill be sure to try to reply faster next time once again thanks for all the help comrades
