I noticed when talking with capitalist sympathizers when they say capitalist they really mean petite-capitalist as in their mind they don't see the difference from the owner of a independent corner store and the Walton family (owners of Wal-Mart).

I noticed this too actually.

Serious?

Surely everyone can see that the owner of the milk bar down the street who works 12 hours a day is different from the board of directors of a massive billion dollar corporation cant they?

Both are capitalists but they live entirely different lives and would have quite different class interests.

A lot of capitalist sympathizers don't, they point to companies like Microsoft to show small businesses can become large. They also point to larger businesses going out of business to show capitalists can fail yet they omit that they are only talking about businesses larger then small businesses and that the very very large capitalists actually hardly ever fail.

Or, if they do fall, there is still plenty of money left over. Not that it's relevant. Slave owners and kings were periodically usurped. :)

I think using the term CAPITAList suffices when talking about why the small business owner and large business owner are different. "Capital" relies on labor to exist.
